The Optio I-10

Hi folks,

I was a huge Auto 110 fan back in the day and am interested in the Optio I-10 mostly for nostalgic reasons.

Has anyone got one, and would you care to compare it to other 12.1MP Optios?

I appreciate any and all input as always.

Cheers,
Mac from Montreal

You'll find various threads here on the subject.

In summary, the I-10 is a high quality compact that delivers nice sharp images with realistic colour. The SR is sensor-shift and works very well, much better than the software based solutions of some compacts.

I carry one everywhere and with care can produce excellent images. The biggest enemy of quality for small cameras is probably camera shake, so the SR is a real advantage.

I'm sure you'll enjoy using one and the nostalgia is an added bonus.
Best regards, John

79.99 is black only.

I notice SRS have them on Ebay for 20 more but you can also choose Silver or white.

Just bought an Optio i-10 (black). what a gorgeous looking camera. Light and easy to use. Perfect for carrying around and snapping away at the unsuspecting. I'm also very impressd with the shutter lag on it (lack of).
The other brands styling just didnt do it for me. Fair enough, it's noisy at ISO400 and beyond, but I'd just make a feature of the grain.

Hi All,
I've just purchased one of these from Jacobs in New Oxford Street in London. I wanted to try beforeI committed to buy and they were the only West End dealer with stock. It was very close to closing time but the staff were very helpful. I did try the RZ10 which is also excellent and has a 10x zoom, but my Son loves the 'mini-SLR' styling of the I-10 and the camera is for him. I will report back once he has used it.

Great to hear - I like the challenge of producing quality images from compact cameras. It's niot as easy as with a DSLR, but it can be done. The I-10 is the ideal compact to deliver the quality with.

John, would you prefer the I-10 to the RS/LS 1000? I know it doesn't have sensor-shift but it's a stylish looking camera. There are some great deals to be had on this model at the moment.
Best wishes,

Andrew

The I-10 is slightly more substantial and I find it easier to keep steady. It also has the sensor shift SR which is a real advanatge. Camera shake is so easy to get with compacts.

The RS1000 has a remarkably good lens but is a bit more basic than the I-10. On the other hand it's fun and it can deliver the goods.

I think it's a matter of what you fancy, as both these cameras are excellent. I tend towards the I-10, but I really did enjoy using the RS1000. Which would I choose to buy? The I-10.

Hope that helps!
Best regards, John

Thanks very much for this, John. It's so difficult where I live to get your hands on a selection of cameras for purposes of comparison.
Best wishes,

Andrew

The I-10 contingent around here is growing. The other day Sue saw one on display and declared, "I like that in black..." - hers is on the way. The brother-in-law and wife ordered one each plus one for a friend....

People have been impressed by the results and they like the looks, an unbeatable combination with the new low prices everywhere!
Best regards, John

My daughter (14) is very pleased with hers (black) which arrived yesterday. She's also enjoying fiddling on the computer (with the ArcSoft software to start off with) and seems to have started with a black and white self-portrait period..... For the kind of prices you can find them now, they're a great deal.

I reviewed it for ePHOTOzine, amazed by the quality for the price. Original RRP was 199.99, but as some have found you can get it for less than 80.
