Pre-ordered K7 and price rises?

Just wondering about pre-ordered K7's, and the price rises that are currently happening.
There were two options of ordering the K7 - sites that charge you for the whole thing right now, versus sites that just take a small deposit, then charge you when you pick it up.
The cheapest (average really) deal that I saw for payment in full upfront was £1298 for both the 18-55 and 50-200 WR kit lenses. Also threw in a wee tripod, 4GB SD card, and a bag.

I went the "pay a small deposit" route, and with a site that does not list the full price, just "it will be our competitive price". Do you think that it'd be a similar price to those listed now, or will the gloves be off and charges whatever market currently is when the camera actually arrives?

The K7 will be at the 'new' price. It is more likely to come down in price than go up.

Ah - so the current prices are already at the "new" level? Makes sense I guess.

Doesent SRS offer a price match deal any way, spending that kind of money I would tend to go with a company I know and trust.

I'm quite sure I can find better pricses when it is out since that shop isn't the cheapest

With the current madness of UK motorcycles being bought by Europeans I would have thought that camera's would be similar - for a change cheaper in the UK with the low pound and high Euro?

If you can wait until the initial rush has passed it's pretty certain that prices will drop, has done with every other DSLR produced. Manufacturers know that some people have the new model as a "must have", once the sales to these guys dry up there needs to be a little more incentive for others to follow - this always means price !!

Thats the way I was thinking it also gives you the chance to see if any flaws arise from the early production models if you wait a little while.

I'm happy to sit back and wait .. for a week or two.
If it hasn't dropped to under a grand after that I will no doubt have to give in and buy one

Might be a bit longer due to an altered sensor. AP can't even test the camera yet. link

Strange thing is the BJ are supposed to be publishing a Full Test this week. Must be on a Beta camera? which makes it pointless, and why are Pentax risking their reputation on tests done on beta models. It was AP's decision not to test the beta model and I'm glad they have made that decision.
