SRS new prices

I would suggest a complete boycott of Pentax products from right now. Can't see any sense in emptying the stores of current stock and forcing the stores to re-stock at ludicrous prices.

Blimey, makes me want to sell my DA*60-250 DA* 60-250 now £1149, glad I got mine ASAFP for £799!
I will have to sit down and check if I should get rid of either the DA*300 or DA*60-250 . But again looking at the quality of the lenses and the prices the way they are shooting up I might just think I better keep them and keep using even if just sporadically

Well as I said on a different thread I was a very lucky lady this morning I phoned SRS and ordered a DA*60-250 and got the last one at the old price, who's a lucky girl then
Have to say I did the same with the Bigma, got the last at the old price, however I am not thinking of selling on and will not be unless something unforeseen happens.

It's nice to hear a story when something has played out in somebodys favour for a change!

Looks as if my DA* blow out (16-50, 60-250 and 300) was very timely, and has saved me nearly a grand.
Thanks to Chris et al for the price rise "Heads up".

I had decided that with all these price increases, I would stop buying lenses but lack of willpower means that I have succumbed and just bought the DA 35 Macro Limited from SRS @ the old price

Think I've been lucky too. Not only did I get the 60-250 and Bigma at a good price but also managed to pick up a new GX-20 for £299. I wasn't going to get one and just wait for the K7, but holiday is 13 days away and I don't think I'll have it by then, so now have two bodies and two great telezooms at around £700 than I'd be paying this week!

I still haven't seen a good explanation about the sheer steepness of these price increases!
Is Hoya/Pentax increasing the prices to show to the "all-the-gear-no-idea" crew that they are seriously expensive, and therefore must be better??
Ok, some of it comes down to currency issues - but definitely not on that scale!
Chris - any explanation from Pentax as this massive price hike?

With these new prices, Pentax are not going to increase their market share in the UK for the foreseeable future.
I'm very happy I bought all the lenses I need when I did but it might mean that the 31mm Ltd doesn't go out quite as often in the future.
I hope it has a knock-on effect on second hand prices, I've still got loads of gear to sell on. K10D for £500 anyone ? ?

No that's only a part of it, we got more VAT (19%) on the lenses here and still they are cheaper then in the UK.Ok, some of it comes down to currency issues - but definitely not on that scale!
DA*50-135
€713 = £600 link
SRS sells it for £919
Time to buy some where else in the EU or not?

Only in the UK by the looks of it, there is no price raise in the rest of the EU I believe.I hope it has a knock-on effect on second hand prices
So prices on ebay won't be too much effected.

I can't see SH prices rising much, too many people will be switching to other brands and fairly quickly at that.I hope it has a knock-on effect on second hand prices, I've still got loads of gear to sell on. K10D for £500 anyone ? ?

Stefan, ParkCameras have the DA*50-135 listed as £529. However, they probably have older stock.and still they are cheaper then in the UK
I guess that may be the same for the sources you quote in the Netherlands as well

Maybe... we'll have to see. Though there are price rises on the other brands as well - but from what I've seen they look like just currency price rises.will be switching to other brands and fairly quickly at that
The Pentax rises just seem completely and utterly absurd! (Are they trying to "milk the market" or something??)

There is a way to get the prices back down though. Don't buy 'em. Simples.
One of the major advantages of Pentax, was the value proposition, this has now gone, and it's a shame. Feel sorry for Chris, I think his turnover will drop like a stone as people vote with their feet.
