mAh ratings can very for exactly the same battery depending on the testing scheme used.
The NP400 is functionally identical to the DLi50 in terms of physical size, shape and electrical connections. Any difference in true capacity is not apparent in general use.

I didnt wish to be Pedantic, however my information came from a Pentax Sales Manager at an Exhibition, who for clearly obvious reasons di not wish to be identified. In reality, as Gary states, 'third party' batteries are available at a considerably lower cost with NO discernable loss of performance. Even the Chinese do not 'tool up' tp produce tiny quantities!

I think the battery issue is put to bed. Although we see different mAh ratings, in practice we see no discernible difference in performance.
As previously mentioned, testing techniques can show different results.
The DC input socket is also an option as I used to run my video cameras from a shoulder slung external battery, so why not a DSLR if your "eating cards in machine gun mode in RAW"?

My third party K7 batteries have a higher capacity (2000mAh) than the Pentax batteries (1860mAh) but I doubt that there will be much in it.
They work very well and are considerably cheaper.
