I upgraded to the K-7 from a K20D. I should have waited longer for the price to drop more, but I'm happy with the camera.

Even if you're not interested in making videos, all the little extra features and improvements add up to make the camera more enjoyable to use. For example, the electronic spirit level is so handy that I wouldn't want to be without it now.

It's a lovely camera Anne, I upgraded from the K20D as soon as the K-7 was released and haven't regretted it.

Hi Anne
I upgraded from the K10D and it's really been worth it - still working my way through some of the extra features!! There's a huge instruction manual!!

I love it.

Cheers

John

Not wanting to blow any kind of trumpet

but if you take a look in my gallery I think all the images back to 'Pink and Green' were taken with the K-7.

I believe image quality is so good as the same and you wouldn't see a difference with the small photos here on the forum.
However from what I know with some playing around the K7 does handle differently and I like it, enough for me to get it over the K20D that is.

So go to a shop and hold a K7 in your hands, only then you would know which one you want.

I was really considering the K7 but in the end decided on the kx, its got many of the same features and better iso/low light capabilities. i would of been gutted having spent the extra on the k7 for them to come out with a better one in a few months with the capabilities that the kx has. i've bought the kx with a view to see whats out in about a year (as in a k7 replacement/upgrade) then look at my options.

I read a lot of reviews and compared the 2, had a play with both, although i do like the k7 very much i still feel i made a better choice.

Strange, and sad, isn't it. How their flagship dslr has been undercut by the k-x.
... just another middle-aged guy with a hobby. I have an extreme macro learning site at extreme-macro.co.uk - Pentax-centric, your feedback and comments would be appreciated!

but has it, as the kx is lower mp witch will cause less noise, and also i have seen somewhere that they have sneaked iso improvments into the firmare updates not sure how true that is, also seen the latest review on ephotozone where the reviewer states that it has been improved from the original tests,
i thought the k20d iso control was very good and i got many a good shot at iso 1600,

Depends and what you find important, for studio or good light photography the K20D and K7 give you the most quality although with low light the K-X win.
