Thanks Jules...... that's pathetic for a mid spec. camera. I can see the reviews flagging that up with a big red-X
At least I can cross it off my list and stay with the K-5 for now.
I wonder why they've switched the LV and View Pics buttons around?
I can't believe it's just to save a Delete button.

Remember, this camera has WiFi (and NFC). You can use your smartphone for remote triggering (and much more). Thanks Jules...... that's pathetic for a mid spec. camera. I can see the reviews flagging that up with a big red-X
This is superior to IR which doesn't work in sunny conditions.

Your right of course steve, plenty of options for controlling the thing remotely, I'll get round to a wifi Pentax eventually, likely when they put it on a K3 (K-S3?) replacement, doubt I'll bother buying a Flucard for the K3 unless they continue with it in the next model (Doubtful now I'd say). I had it on my Fuji X-T1 which nigh halved the battery life form a very poor 250 shots down to just over a hundred and fifty and that was just switching it on and having a bit of a play around with the smart phone app rather than transferring loads of data, it's a power muncher.
It would seem also it has the superior K3 type of sensor cleaning which is nice because it actually does seem to work!
It's a little power house, if it does not sell well there is simply no justice in the world, my wallet is getting palpatations

K30: EV -1 to 18 (ISO 100) Had to download the manual to find it!I was super impressed by the -3ev, and must go and look a that the k-30 offered.
That's pretty good then.
Return some real working image stabilisation (like the had on the K-5 series years ago) and I'm pretty much in.

For me I'd settle for 11 focus points in exchange for -3EV. Howver, this is up against the Nikon D5300 for instance with 39 autofocus points. SRS list the key features of the D5300 as i) 24mp and ii) 39 AF points. I think there is a vast market of buyers preconditioned into Canikon who will look no further than that, I suspect many won't know what -3ev means.
They won't, and you can be sure that the comparative magazine review would conclude with something like ... ' the ' canikon' wins outright for its far higher number of autofocus points (a most generous 39), whereas the Pentax disappoints somewhat with the lowest ev figure in this test (a very low -3) !!

Funny it's a single sd card slot given how big that flap is.

I'm more interested in using a lead and would want to transmit the full size JPG straight to a PC which an Eye-Fi Card does quite well on a K-5. I normally use a powerful IR transmitter (to fire the shutter) and it might get picked up by the front sensor anyway or I could fire a WEIN repeater at it for the actual shot.Algernon wrote:

The problem is the half press to turn the CIF beep on without firing the shutter (it doesn't stay active for long) also I doubt if two Wi-Fi sytems running at the same time would work.

If they can't fit the electronics in for a wired remote they should re-introduce the 2-stage shutter release button with the thread so we can use mechanical wired release cable and bring the bellows back in to proper use too.
Cheers
