If there is a firmware update for this and it has chop inside surely all the other sdm 1.4x teleconveeters will work better and properly???

Just placed my pre-order with SRS 
I can see this being and almost permanent fixture on my 60-250

For what it's worth it's about 28g (also 28%) heavier than my Kenko 1.5x PZAF so whether that equates to better glass or heavier plastic or not I don't know! Or how much better the HD makes it. One of the things I'm looking forward to is the comparison against the existing options though.

The Kenko 1.5x is about the worst performer of the 1.4/1.5 TC's.
If it's lighter it probably has less glass. It might even be
3 elements.
The Kenko 1.4x DG MC is about as good as you can get at present.
Although it probably won't work with SDM it would be interesting
to hear what the Kenko-Teleplus-DG-1-4X-MC-Teleconverter stocked
by SRS at £109 performs like. DG means optimised for APS-C and
it's also MC.

So there I was collecting a K3 and an 18-270 from SRS today when the very subject of the 1.4 came up for discussion. Sounds like it`s not going to disapoint with IQ especially with the DA*300 plus also the Sigma 150-500 and lots of glass in between. Thanks Chris and team.

Had no problems with my Kenko 1.5SHQ to date...
k-5 IIs, Pentax 60-250, 17-70, 100macro WR, 50mm F2,
AF50 F1.4, Siggy 10-20, Siggy 100-300 F4, ..Pentax Af 160 ring flash

Mine has very good IQ with the DA* 300 and autofocuses, albeit slowly and with hunting, with Sigma 150-500, DA 55-300, DFA 100mm Macro and Tamron 18-250 even at f6.3 full zoom. So I am pleased if it's likely to be better.

Also pre-ordered at SRS – I expect it will be spending most of its time on my DA* 300mm.
