LINK

In Spanish but half way through he comapres the K20D fps with the new K-7.
I thought the K-7 sounded slow until he fired up the K20D.

WOW, that's a little beauty Mike. You are right, the K20 next to it sounded like it was a steam engine struggling next to a jet propelled one . That was almost like music to my ears hearing that K7 being fired.

I'm surprised that there's nothing new for "Focus Stacking in Live View".
Canon's have had the facility to stack say 30 photographs controlled by the computer for some time. Doesn't sound like it will be in this model..... Maybe the K8

This what's missing link

It all sounds very interesting, and I'm looking forward to the first proper reviews of it to see how it compares to its rivals, whatever the media determine those to be!

It sounds like a big step in the right direction anyway if all this new stuff does what you would expect it to do.

I'm interested in the improved AF tracking, and of course the noise performance.

didn't sound like 3 frames a second from the k20 to me, he must of had it on low con shooting not high,
just keep snapping,

Scott, that was 3 FPS, I know that sound so well now and can time it in my mind . Can't forget the day I was in the hide waiting for the kingfishers and the Nikon D90 guy was next to me, there was another Nikon guy on my right also and the moment we all fired at the same time the K20 was notably slower, by far in fact.
So if the new body comes with this improved it certainly is a step in the right direction.

Are you sure that's actually a Canon feature Shim?

The focus stacking SW in that link is not Canon, it can be used with any photographs you like.

You could do this now with the kit you have, the only difference is that some clever bugger has written a script that takes a shot, refocuses a little, takes a shot, refocuses a little .......repeat 30 times, whilst the camera is hooked up to a pc.

So I must admit that I'm very surprised that you are being dismissive of the new Pentax camera for not having focus stacking where Canons do, simply, from that link they don't. If you want to focus stack, just go ahead and do it, if you want the same feature as described in the link to automate the process a bit, get some clever bloke to write you a script! Sorry for the whinge, but this justs sounds a tad unfair!

Now, in camera HDR, there's a unique feature, try and find that on a Canon!

The script works because Canon have released a free SDK for most of their products see link other tricks are possible.

Here's one that captures video straight to the computer link Hardly new though I can do that with my Sony Camcorder.

Pentax have nothing like that.... at least not until K8

Will they ever release a K9

I found the composition adjustment quite a nice thouch, certainly if you do a lot of shooting from the tripod. hopefully you also have the option to couple it with the level indicator so that all your landscapes shot are straight.

[The US Price converts to about £862 with p&p. I was told on holiday that the K200D had made Pentax's "cool" with Canon users. I know that they are after video, so do you think they will be imprest with the K-7?
then comes the 15% vat making it £991,30 Probable they will round that up to £999,-

I've just had a look at this and it is very impressive, this would do me nicely for my airshows and so much quicker than the K20.

I'm going to wait though until Chris has some in stock before I commit myself, I'd like to have a look at one in the flesh and have a proper feel of it.

Amin that is exactly the point I was making yesterday when I was at Duxford on Sunday and noticed how far behind the rest the K20 was. I shouldn't have watched that video...

I can see a K20 being exchanged for one of these in the near future

I would chip in for something like this.

Hope I haven't stirred up a nest there, but with further explanation from shim, an SDK would be a great idea along with far better tethering support (ps. just got a macbook pro, so a mac version too please!)
