There is also the question of available cash, photography is an expensive hobby, I for one struggled to buy new kit while raising a family, it wasn't until the kids were grown up that newer and more expensive kit started coming my way, 20 years ago I could never have dreamed of spending almost a Grand (or the equivelant) on a camera body. Getting older does have some benefits
No surprise that on a hobby based forum, many of the participants are those with time to pursue the hobby.

No dramas. We're swimming in it down in Victoria as well now. Still much better off than the poor buggers in Queensland though. One of the missing turned up 50 miles downstream, very much the worse for wear of course. They don't think many of the rest that are still missing will ever be found.

I will vote at the end of the month. That s when I call it a day at work.
I am 64.5 and my company have decided to move and its to far for me to travel. I get made redundant 6 months before In am due to retire and they pay me for 3 months and also provide an enhanced redundancy payment. No financial loss and 6 months off. Good deal apart from my other boss is deciding my new work rota.

Currently by choice I don't work Fridays yipee!
Forced early retirement looks on the cards after easter thanks to the govt cutbacks...
...still that would give me more time to ponder if it is worth going out 'in this light' for a photo. I think that this is a winter problem - mid winter, post Christmas blues. The shortest day has gone but the daylight does not seem to increase much
Right the grey cloud is lifting I am off out now.

Full-time, full-steam ahead for me for a few years yet! While I'm very much looking forward to more photos and more travel thereafter, I don't want to wish my life away. I only got one...

Erm, so I'm not quite 40 yet, which means I'll never get to retire (entirely serious statement...). Fortunetly, my work averages at about 3 days a week over the year - if not very evenly (130+ hour weeks are not unheard of), so I get to spend lots of time enjoying life and expensive hobbies before I'm too old to!
Still shooting in the dark (literally and metaphorically)...
