Much too much empty space, text is not clear, Too bright, does not look more modern to me just naff.

Well, Just tried to use my 7inch tablet and when you try to use the top drop downs (Gallery, Forum etc) the search opens when you try to go to recent activity. perhaps the search forums box could be moved to the right side, away from the drop downs.

Total waste of time and more difficult to use.

Can I have the old one back please!

I hope it is sorted out soon, on my iPad earlier I clicked on one thumbnail and was presented with a different picture, others would not load, tried to upload a photo three times since three o'clock uk time and no joy. You look in the forum and all the pictures for different threads are the same, all very confusing

Gallery upload still doesn't work.

I'm going against the flow here and I think it looks just fine. I think Algi should update his monitor - 1024 * 768 on a 19" monitor is a bit 'yesteryear' to say the least!! Full HD monitors are pretty cheap nowadays and on my 1920 * 1080 laptop screen the new layout works a treat. For me it is much more modern, cleaner and easier to read, I have no issues with the white space.

However, the biggest gain I have noticed is not on the Forum, but in the Gallery. Finally, my images are looking more akin to how they look in their original state on my PC!! In particular the 'larger' view on the gallery is great, the images have greater clarity, more punch, contrast and detail than they did previously. This has puzzled me a little as it implies that the uploaded images must be stored somewhere in their uncompressed form as otherwise surely they would look the same as they did on the old Gallery? Has anyone else noticed this quality improvement in the Gallery images?

I would be interested in what the site administrators / mods can advise on this point, but whatever the reason it is a most welcome change.

Great on my 24 inch IPS Dell Ultrasharp at 1920 x 1200. Struggling to upload a fireworks pic to gallery though, stuck on loading.

Same here Bill, perhaps they have introduced some sort of quality control Just joking of course, there's probably some teething trouble.

PS New web site looks fine on my 7 inch Samsung Galaxy tab gadget too. Clear text, menus small but then you'd expect that on a portable screen.

I normally hate it when forums change but have to say I am quite happy with the way this has turned out (so far).

Edit: Can't upload to gallery either, just sits there saying uploading your picture.

Can we have a user definable option to select the background colour please?

Have to say I couldn't see what was wrong with the old site layout - for myself this new one, as others have said, is too white and too much space and also requires more scrolling to get anywhere through forum posts etc.
That said the gallery does seem to be a better though.

Without wanting to stir up all the old arguments, I thought the issues people had with the site related more to what could and couldn't be posted in the fora?

Sorry, David, I'm with Algi on this one - 1024 x 768 is all that my tired old eyes can handle (on a 22" monitor).
Light grey type on a white background is a novice mistake (in HCI terms) and the list of sub-heads if you click on the Forum item on the menu is not only hard to follow, but hard to negotiate.
