He did also mention that it has plenty of chromatic abhoration. What does this mean.

I can't believe you are being serious! Stay well clear of this lens, if you buy this lens and stick it on a Pentax camera you wont be pleased with the results.

From one expert to another (allegedly), the mistakes you'll remember most are the expensive ones.
Steer clear, as the shop you refer to has more connection with mess ups than press ups.
If they have recommended something to you, it's probably only because they want rid of it, and saw you coming.
BTW: How does "pretty high up in the world of cameras" relate to "works in a camera shop"?

1 rhymes with press ups would not employ anybody who was not at the top of their game because they are such a respected established chain of shops
2 my mate has got his own nikon professional gear that i have seen on tv used by the presserazzi
3 he is really good at doing photos with a slow shutter speex

It's not about what kit I've got, its about having the knowledge to use it to maximum potential.

Whats not serious? If you ran a company you would employ the best and not idiots no?
And anyone who uses top of the range Nikon gear has got to know a lot about what they are doing.
And his work with ow shutter speeds is out of this world.
On this basis I think his recomendation to buy the Pro 58mm lense is a sound one.

The hole you are digging is just getting deeper and deeper. I suggest you stop now.
