No change - the website still states that they are awaiting my application

All the previous Pentax cashback schemes were handled by Pentax in Slough.

This one appears to have been subcontracted out to an organisation in a serviced office block in Barking, so perhaps they are expecting a greater take up

It is certainly a more flexible cashback offer.

Barking, sounds about right.

This is not good news - the cashback was a major decision in me upgrading and staying with the brand

Actually some of the companies are notoriously slow in updating info regarding rebates. From experience, most times you will have your rebate before the site is updated regarding your particular rebate. I have had this happen several times. Also most times you will be told until a month has gone by, do not expect any rebate.

Well it's put me off buying at the moment. I've never heard good things about cashback schemes (although I'm not referring to Pentax). I didn't get chance to buy when it was briefly 889GBP (I had decided to gamble 50GBP - minus the amount needed to send the claim by recorded delivery), but at 919 + spare battery, I'd save money by buying some accessories (that I don't need) to get to the 100GBP threshold, but then I'd be gambling on 100GBP....

There does seem to be some negativity about cashback, but the last time it worked just fine. Why assume this time it won't? It will never be quick, but I think 4-6 weeks is acceptable in comparison to the general run of these schemes.

Currently I expect two cashbacks in 90 days from car insurance offers and I will get them, because I'll make sure I do. But I don't expect it to go wrong....
Best regards, John

The cashback website has been set up so that you can specifically check the progress of your application.

I know that my application form was received on Monday 16th November and yet the website still states, when I log in (over 3 weeks later) - "We await receipt of your application form".

It should say "We have received your application form but have not processed it yet".

Not much to ask really.

If they 'pulled their finger out' and changed the message to say this (i.e. the truth), then I would shut up on the topic

The fact that it is also being run out of an office building in Barking (that has nothing to do with Pentax) also does not fill me with confidence.

Pentax cash back promo.I had similar experience as Hyram and was told the same thing regarding my application.I quickly realised from the spoken english of the lady answering the helpline that eventhough the telephone number belongs to a uk std code, the call is transferred to somewhere in holland.

I must not forget to mention the efficiency of Royal mail, I sent my cash back application to Pentax by recorded signed for on the 29th nov and to this day royal mail tracking system says my letter is going through their network eventhough it was delivered. I see the reason why they are so keen to go on strikes so often and not happy for the business to modernise.C'mon guys get your act together.

It won't be a gamble if you follow the rules and procedure. Pentax is a reputable company. I got my cashback when I bought my K20D, and I would absolutely expect to get it if I applied again.

However, in your case, you might be better off by buying your spare battery and accessories elsewhere more cheaply even if it means you then don't qualify for cashback. Compatible batteries for the K-7 can be bought for less than 10 - the ones I got from eBay work fine.

You have found how the PO will take your money and not provide the service.

If they are delivering a large amount of "Signed For" to a single company then they will just get one signature to say they delivered around 250 items and they are not individually listed and they make no attempt to provide the data.

Several times this has happened to me and I have claimed 30 compensation from the PO because of their failings.

Hi,

It's not that I expect it to go wrong, just that I don't feel confident that it will go right. As has been pointed out Pentax are a reputable company, but I remember following a similar US-based story a while back on dpr concerning one of the other big camera companies, who had also contracted out the scheme, and which seemed to have caused a number of probems - such as the denial of receipt of claims until proved (I had no evidence at all, admittedly, but it seemed that maybe rather more claims were getting lost in the post than you'd expect), and extremely picky rules that were easy to be caught out by. If it was clear that pentax are running the scheme themselves (like someone said they did last time, I think?), I would be much happier. Ok, so I'm probably over-analysing the situation.

Definitely was Pentax in Langley last time - application was sent to Langley and cheque arrived post marked Slough and the signatory was a Pentax employee.

Talking to a pleasant sounding female somewhere in Europe does not seem to achieve anything, so I have sent an e-mail to Pentax in Slough.

Pentax in Slough replied saying that 'Cashback' is nothing to do with them and that I should have contacted the Pentax Cashback helpline

However there has been some progress...........

Now when I check on my status, it says "Your claim has not been verified yet" which I guess when translated means "we do have your claim but have not done anything with it yet"
