K5 Sensor Issues...

Yeah, I know it is not a good news. I have bought it from Park Cameras, which is reputable seller. I have already had a good experience with them, when swapping the faulty 18-135 lens from the kit. Hope they will do the same with the camera. I will post a picture later, but I'm definitely sure the spots are stains. Before buying K-5 I did quite a long research and I'm prepared for the typical issues for the model.
That's why 2 years warranty is a must with K-5. It is really pity that such a great camera is plagued with so many known QC issues. My old Pentax k-m is still working without any hitch...

Wow, I have just checked for stains and for my surprise they are there. I bought the camera 3 weeks ago and didn't bother to test, because it is manufactured in April 2011, serial starting with 404... I believed they have addressed the issue with newer batches, but obviously - they haven't.
So, just for the info, higher serial number is not enough guarantee for stains free sensor.
Strange! Mine was manufactured 24th Feb. 2011 and has a bigger serial 466.... No problems so far

Today my stained camera was swapped for a new one. In fact they gave me a brand new whole kit. I am pretty happy with Park Camera service. They promptly resolved a problem with the same kit for second time.
This time the first thing which I've shoot at, was a white wall Sensor is clean, let's see how long it will stay in that condition. By the way the new camera is produced again in April 2011, just couple of days before the faulty one. Serial starts with 403...

Just to add, my K5 number 2 was a feb 2011 manufacture and 4xxx serial and had the stain issue.
Have not tested number 3 yet (just back fom holiday) - number 3 though has a fairly large, single piece of dust/debris under the rear LCD - instantly visible - but it has not bothered me so far, just wondering what would you guys do about that issue?

Hi again all!
So Novatech agreed that my K5 was faulty, and offered me a refund. I have since ordered one from SRS, done the test only to find the following:

This is a 100% crop obviously, but the mark is visible at the top centre of images without the need to zoom!
Not a stain I don't think, but still a worry? Anyone have any thoughts on this such as whether a normal cleaning kit would get rid of this, or whether I should contact SRS immediately.
Thanks!

Thanks Algernon, I tried the in camera cleaning but it made no difference. I will see what SRS say tomorrow and then if they don't suggest anything I will have to buy a cleaning kit.
So frustrating when all I want to do is get out there and take some photos!
Pentaxonian - have tried 2 different lenses to confirm it isn't the lens...
