K5 Sensor Issues...

Looks like dust to me .. you need to do a wet clean first.

Stain comes in a string 99% of the time.

Edit: 19/05/2010 ? ... is that correct?

Thats the photo generation date, not camera production date....

Either that or your camera was this day last year...

Camera production date is much further down in the Photome EXIF data....

A year ago today .. before the K-5 was announced even.

Mine got very dirty very quickly. I used the Visible Dust mini cleaning kit from SRS : link
Cleaned it nicely and it has stayed clean since.
Certainly worth a try.

Saw that after I posted... The date is clearly wrong on the camera.

i think i have the dreaded stains again...took these shots today after each one i did a sensor clean with my arctic butterfly but wont shift the ones on the right so i think they are stains...all opinions welcome...either that or i have the dirtiest sensor i have ever had

I am always careful when changing lenses
Looks exactly the same as mine (K5 no 3!) did - when sent in, SRS told me it wasn't the sensor stain, just a dirty sensor and cleaned it, but it still had faint spots when it came back to me. Again I had been incredibly careful when changing lenses, and had only changed lenses 3 times (and have changed lenses on my K20 and K10 for years without a tenth this much dust ever!). No idea what is happening, but accepted mine back with the slight marks, because I thought somehow it was my fault.... am starting to be doubtful, since it's not just me that's getting an unusually dirty sensor.

My K5 from SRS was just as dirty as this, it has cleaned up OK (with DigiPad Image Sensor Cleaning Solutions kit) www. digipad.co.uk but it seems to me Pentax are not doing the quality control they used to do.

Correct photome data this time 26-11-2010,still last years
i have never had anywhere near this amount of dust before must be a seal problem i think.

My swabs are 15mm across, but I think they ask what camera they are for.

I'm not sure if it's the sensor stain or not but there's a thread started on the "other" pentax forum by someone with a March 2011 model
