Could be false economy.... instead of 2-3year Warranty
you will only get 6-12 months

I wouldn't let the sensor problems put you off. I'm sure Pentax won't be put any more cameras out there with these problems, buy from SRS if you do have problems they'll sort it.
I've been using the K5 for a couple of weeks now and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.
Thanks but what do pentax have to say about this
regards
Photowam :
Right now, Pentax USA rep Ned Bunnell says Pentax is investigating.
People with problems need to report it to where they purchased it. As people here are saying, reputable sources like SRS are being better than good to thier customers.[/quote]I think I will hold on to my DL2 and x70

true for many people....
for me...
I find that every now and then I want to upgrade for business purposes.
if there is a factory defect it will be found and fixed within the first couple months... and if it is fixed, then I would expect the camera will be relatively problem free for the life of it.

Does anyone know the serial number after which the problem is sorted yet? I am planning on getting a K5, but would rather wait until I can get a sorted one.

All new K-5s are supposed have been tested by Pentax before being sent out, at least in the UK and Benelux.
If you order from SRS they will check it too if you ask them too.

Ah - all 18 months or so ago, and not the 7D. You had me worried for a bit there.

Your caps lock button broke on your keyboard?! Maybe give them a follow up call in the new year. Nothing to be done before xmas especially in this weather. Do the marks look similar to the ones you've seen in this thread?
