K5 owners

Be interesting to see how wide the problem actually is!..we will have to wait for more K5 owners to come online!.It seems very bad luck for the more than usual amount of people who dived in and ordered the K5!....I just hope they don't have to wait long for the problem to be rectified. I would hope Pentax will sanction the replacement of these cameras from Chris, and not insist on them being returned for "repair!".....

What the hell... I saw guys claiming same problem in Chinese forums. Looks like a global issue. I just ordered a K-5 from Jessops on Friday. Hopefully it will never happen on my coming K-5. Otherwise I'll try to get refund and move to a much cheaper Kr.

Cant see that happening, if the cameras were supplied "faulty" to start with, I for one would certainly insist on a replacement, especially as Pentax are aware of the problem.

I think I may have black spot on mine
Must set up a white sheet and do some proper tests.

Anyone thinking of buying a K5 should hang on a bit, there may be some reasonably priced re-furbished ones on the market in a few months

Your probably right and at a fraction of the price and probably a better camera at least they will have been checked out before dispatch.

Oh joy - I too have ordered one from Jessops. I can see I'm going to be spending some time testing it in the shop while some Jessop clod is telling me I should have bought a Nikon

I have a question for those who are seeing this problem: does it show in the lcd screen or only when viewed at 100% on a monitor?

I could see mine on the screen.

Sorry to hear about all this.... Pentax probably laid off
too many QA staff.... hard to believe they didn't spot this
during manufacture it's obviously something that would be
visible on the production line.

If I were involved I think I'd just ask for a refund.
Half Man... Half Pentax ... Half Cucumber

Well it will cost them more than the wages of the QA staff. I doubt there was much QA at all.

How would it be visible on the production line? Everything is automated, and they certainly don't test every camera before it is boxed.

This sounds like a bit of dirt to me, and I would hope not a difficult problem to rectify.

Does anyone knows if this is in pictures only or do they show up in video as well?:
I will test my one proper tomorrow.
Flash should be OK for that?
Would be a bummer as I just sold my Samsung and awaiting the payment.
Would have to use the Panasonic again or even dig out my old F2A.:
Kind regards

It's nice to be nice!

Good grief, man. In Tokyo, people are jumping off the tallest buildings. This is the worst thing that has happened since, I dunno, the last worst thing, and all you can do is carry on using your camera.

You obviously don't understand the gravity of the situation.

They're the staff of the QA dept. So there's no hope.
