I'd think about giving up Danny! I'm attempting to, so I appreciate it is hard to ignore ignorant drivel We could just let these two discuss their ... ahem... 'interesting' ideas amongst themselves

Tim , I know what you're saying, and perhaps I should just give up, but if someone came on here and said that the K-7 cost £2,000, didn't have anti-shake, you can't even take photos with it etc.etc. there would rightly be a lot of people standing up and defending it.

There is an awful lot of incorrect information on here, mostly from Stefan who just seems to make things up, that if no one said something, people would believe it. Having been in the mobile industry for well over a decade, I just cannot let it ride when someone makes up this drivel.

You applaud the Android store for getting 100,000 apps in 2 years and saying 'not bad eh!', yet the iPhone has over 230,000 apps after 2 years and NOT the 30,000-37,000 you have quoted!! Where do you get your figures from, the playground at school?? The App Store was released in June 2008 along with OS 2. We are in 2010.
If you read my comment you see I was talking about the age of the OS not the app-stores and I clearly said it can be comaprable and I only wanted to show how fast the app market globally was growing.
Also I applaud just as loud for the App-store for hitting 225.000 apps so don't be so one sided.
I've linked where I got the numbers from and the numbers seems to be quite right since they hit the milestones Apple announced, I've checked that. If you've a better source then please go ahead and show me.

Got it from amazon.co.uk

Yes but everything in it must apply to be one, if not then everyone here is trolling at the moment.

And Stefan, for crying out loud, before you start typing again, please, please try and get your facts straight. It's becoming embarrassing.
Are there any facts about the iPhone and the reception off it, Apple says very little about it.

I think we can come to some definite conclusions here folks: the iPhone 4 is without a doubt the only smartphone worth owning, the reception problems are all lies by Google fans, and anyone who dares to question His Steveness is doing no more than spout 'ignorant drivel' (in addition to being an idiot for not buying an iPhone). We can all get back to the camera talk now

Stefan, If you must insist on comparing 2 years of app sales against 1 year of app sales then as I said, get your facts straight. There is no mention that I can see of the numbers 30-37,000 apps after 1 year in any of the links you provide. Unless it's a link, from a link, from someones comment that I just cannot be bothered to look for.

So I decided to look for your pointless statistics just to see what truth if any was in them. I found them in less than 1 minute of searching. They are in an Official Apple Press Release here. The number after 1 year is over 50,000. Like I said, get your facts straight. If you don't know how, try the source first, just a suggestion.

Next time you are looking for a price for a product, why don't you start with the place that actually makes and sells the product first? Would that not be sensible instead of going somewhere where people are trying to sell out of stock products at a premium, why not quote the one on eBay right now for £1000???

As I said above, as a suggestion, next time, please, try the source of the information first. It might prevent you from looking so stupid.

Even Wikipedia (regularly lambasted for its lack of accuracy) doesn't consider websites controlled by the manufacturer of a product to be a reliable source of information about that product's performance

So I find official figures instead of made up ones, but it doesn't matter as they are a bunch of liars?

I'm genuinely lost for words.

I give up.

Could someone please delete my account.

Danny is it so hard to read???
It's about the amount off apps available after 2 years the OS are on the market. That Apple wanted to fully control his own market after a year or so is besides the point.
After all you could develop Apps for the iPhone when it came out right?

They take a reading at the beginning of the month so if we will look at June 2009 the date from your link where Apple said they had more than 50,000 apps.
These are the numbers from my link.
2009-06 = 45,429
2009-07 = 54,035
So in June 2009 Apple indeed hit the 50,000 mile.
In November 2009 Apple hit the 100,000 mile for apps, the data from my link are.
2009-11 90,990
2009-12 113,087
Wow they are on the money again
Last month they hit the 225,000 mile and that seems the be very possible according my link.

Danny any other data you think isn't right?

Because 95 of the 100 times they don't have a price there and the Apple sites runs like glue here since recently, maybe they are having some troubles over there.
It took me 5 minutes to open your link

Just see I quoted you Gareth, sorry about that, that wasn't what I wanted to do

It's not the matter that's concerning me but the accusations, first off trolling and now lying. I of course made some mistakes in comments but I never lied.

I've followed this thread for some time, as I intend to upgrade to the iPhone 4 in a couple of weeks or so. Depends where you look, who you talk to and what you believe - still going for it... The only decision now is whether to go for the 16gb or 32gb version

I bought one! couldn't care less about the 10 pages of nonsense, bigotry and conjecture I don't do gadgets. I have waited years for a phone that could genuinely do something more than phone and text (by my standards). And here it most definitely is!
It is a joy to use, hooks up effortlessly with my Imac (which is also sublime), email account up and running in about 30 seconds and notifications on the fly. I am super critical, but the screen is fabulous! the camera - with its touch-screen focusing is super-responsive with fab results, the video - has blown me away. I now have a walking portfolio of my images looking utterly fabulous - if I can't sell my photography now I'll give up. oh... and it can make calls.
If the signal drops, I'll happily move my little finger
Last and not least, it feels gorgeous - really beautiful, solid and well-made.
