How would you improve your Pentax SLR?

What features would you like to see if you upgraded your current SLR?

Mine's a K20, and if it could be improved I'd like:

- non-crippled K-mount
- split-prism focusing screen
- 100% viewfinder.

Plus maybe more accurate metering in auto mode, but I hardly ever use it so it's not really a problem.

Non-crippled mount, yes please.

Split-image third-party screens are available, though one from Pentax would be good, too.

100% viewfinder is already here with the K-7.

I'd like more accurate AF as well, and lower noise.

* Wider dynamic range
* Faster focussing with DA* lenses
* Less fiddly memory card access

K100.
Wider dynamic range.
Live view.
Articulating screen with more pixels.

That's about it really.

Best wishes,

Andrew

I'll take your three and add more accurate exposure with older non-A glass. Although adjusting the exposure when shooting static subjects is easy, I have missed a few grab shots because of this.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

A sensor measuring 36x24mm, of course!. A threaded shutter button. The ability to shoot in b&w. I know this can be done, but it involves pushing buttons in the menu and a lot of faffing about. My Canon A70 compact is always set to b&w. Conversion after the shot is a bit of a pain. I like to see the image in b&w as it is taken.
Less menu and more knobs! - An exposure compensation knob, like those found on old film cameras would be good.
No man is worth his salt, who has not been banned from at least one Forum, and two Flickr groups.

ISO performance from the K-x
FPS and 18mp from the 7D
AF speed from the D300
Tiltable screen from the Sony A550
IQ and K-mount from Pentax

All in a K10D body.

The K-7 (at least) can shoot in b&w, and stays in that mode until you switch to another. No faffing.

I like lots of knobs, too , but pressing a button while turning the dial is not too bad.

We would hopefully have that if camera had a non-crippled mount.

Cable Release for my K-x - for an idiot like myself I suspect it would be easier than the Remote.

Isn't the ISO performance from the 7D better then the K-X?

Fourthed! Especially the articulated screen and ISO performance.

Plus:
Wider dynamic range
Huge viewfinder like an old manual SLR
A factory-installed split screen

Here we go the Sony a500 use the same sensor as the K-X link
So why take a lesser ISO performance, is there a reason behind it?
Besides that, the dynamic range of the 7D is greater... so we all want a 7D it seems, I wonder why most of you haven't jumped ship yet
