When I need to carry "sensitive" equipment, I put it in a backpack hanging in the back of my wife's wheelchair. People are so scared of discrimination lawsuits that it never gets checked. So, go in with a wheelchair.

Thank you Philip, I have been getting a little stressed about this today. There were certainly some massive lenses (mostly white ) to be seen in the crowd last night at the athletics, and in the velodrome, so I am not sure how strict they are on the rules anyway.

Yes, I saw a large number of iPads, I didn't quite get it, they're not exactly practical ergonomics-wise and a little compact camera would take better shots. Very strange but each to their own I suppose.
I decided to go with the 18-250 on my K30 as, while it's not the greatest lens in the world it was my most flexible choice when only taking one lens in. Nobody even looked at it twice at security and when I got in there were DSLRs everywhere with a wide variety of lenses. I think, as long as you don't look like a professional (This wasn't difficult for me) trying to get away without paying and don't take anything too outrageous you'll not have any bother at all.

In other news, just after getting into the park I saw someone using a Pentax Q! it was the only other Pentax I was aware of all day.

I was in Hyde Park yesterday. They asked if I had a camera in my bag and I said yes. I started to get it out and they said "Is it longer than 150mm?". I answered no (truthfully) and they didn't even look. I don't know where 150mm came from as I haven't seen that on any official advice. They didn't seem all that keen to get into any arguments or deny me entry though
I had my 15, 43 and 100 with me. I didn't even use the 100, although I may have if we had stayed around until Bradley Wiggins came on stage.
