You can't blame the Olympics on that though can you? The damage was done years ago. I wouldn't want to over-claim, but there have been UK businesses which have benefited from the Olympics over the last few years - construction firms, cement works, manufacturers... I wouldn't be surprised if it has kept a few companies ticking over, it's just a shame that it's only temporary.Seriously?? I guess you failed to grasp the irony of the opening ceremony which was proudly boasting to the world that GB revolutionised industry. Where are those industries now?

That's right - the Japanese economy also needs propping up, not just ours!

I havent a clue what a list of defunct British Camera manufacturers has to do with Draconian Olympic rules, but Will's suggestion would be far more cost effective and sensible - I will wait for the new issue later in the Year. We may as well be taxpayers for the next 30 years for something that lasts.........
K5's (2)both gripped, K10d gripped, Pentax 28-90 f3.5, Sigma 18-250mm, Sigma 150-500mm. Thanks Ken. Batty Cameras it is!
Battyuser.co.uk hasn't been claimed so well be OK for a forum.
I've decided to outsource the sensors.
(Anybody know how to make a shutter?)

I am going to tennis tomorrow, looks like I will be up past midnight on this one, if there is no official clarification, then I will take the 135 and pass it if as a 35mm! Doubt security will have a clue!
I think the pros are running scared that amateurs will produce better images!
At least my tennis playing 8year old has the I10! So he will be able to prove he was there when he inherits the Olympic tax bill!

I did some woodwork at school!
How about a new rotery shutter, a bit like a fan, it will have 3 functions - a sensor cleanor (blow the dust off), a sensor cooler and a twin leaf shutter!

Why don't we just make it a K mount? Simples.
I think we're ready for Dragons' Den! I'll get on to the BBC.

What about the controller? I can do a little programming so the processing engin could be up an runing in a few months (unless I am arrested trying to get into Wimbledon with my non-pro, 'that looks like a pro camera Sir.' camera!)
Now, all we need is a good quality USB cable to attach my smart phone as the new 'DigiPRIME' processor.

I have just had an idea!
I could take my film camera! They won't understand what it is!
Or, I can take my DSLR camera with my 35mm lens attached and my 18-135 lens with my Kelco telescope adaptor attached and say its my telescope because I have very poor eyesight!

There is a project for this back in about 2000 that I signed up for as a potential tester. However the project never progressed. The prototype was a FF sensor that actually went where the film did and the equilivent of the film spool housed the electronics, processing engin (JPG only) and a USB port.
Looked like a great idea at the time, think it was about a 2MP sensor!

OK, that does it. I'm going to start a British camera company. The first thing we need is a name.
(Anybody know how to make a sensor?)
Step 2: give up and buy a company who already holds the paintents required;
Step 3: give up and buy a company that produces sensors;
Step 4: outsource manufacturing to a camera company who will outsource manufacturing to a manufacturing company who will steal your design and make it cheaper.
