I'm confused too. I thought that once you entered a competition you had to stick with your first choice. And I always get confused when Stefan sets off a technical discussion and every one chips in with conflicting opinions that get more and more confusing. I always thought that the 'circle of confusion' meant something quite different in photography.

Once an image is posted the entrant should leave it at that and not replace or modify it.

Some didn't understand me correctly and uploaded a wrong photo.
We have had contact over PM and since they didn't do it attentionally I had said it was al right to upload a new one because I didn't want to spoil the fun for them.

@Aliengroove, thank you for the explanation, that makes sense

Strange competition this week. I have been under the impression that the judge should refrain from commenting while the competition was running.

Here it seems that the conditions are constantly changing as days go by. Weird
Best regards
Terry

I thought the judge refrained from viewing the comments thread until after the results were posted - But we are being experimental this week

Maybe, but to be honest that could get very out of hand. It's far better if the judge just puts up the competition and then makes no further comment until it's judging time. Anything else could lead to chaos.

It's too late now, but perhaps future judges could bear that in mind. Otherwise we have a constantly changing competition, which is very unfair.

The situation has no doubt caused poor Stefan a lot of additional grief! Good luck with the judging Stefan. Kudos for trying something a bit different even if it's backfired slightly!

Sorry thought it was only with the fortynight
It is not writing anywhere that it inst allowed so don't blame me for not knowing an unwritten rule.

Maybe, but it was always said it was about the fun of competing so didnt want to disappoint them.
So they made their entered photo fit for the competition.

Maybe a simpler topic next time
Also I acted as I saw fit and would do the same thing again so no griefs about that.

Oh dear, I should have been disqualified then. IN my defence there were minutes between the entries, with slight tonal differences. Live and learn. If I'd known that two tone colour popping was allowed I might have entered differently.
Lurking is shirking.!

I thought it was like proper duo toned images hence my proper black and white then duo toned image. Bit confusing what could be entered
Same here Gareth but well it was within the guide lines I specify, and I thought it was wonderfully creative to think in that way. It simply didn't occur to me that you could see it that way.

I would like to discuss the resubmitting a bit further.

It was a chaos now because everyone can look at the entries and see what's going on and what someone has entered, I think that makes the one that put in their first entry at a disadvantage which I think is unfair.
Therefore I don't understand the rule you can't edit or change your entry, is there a reason for that?

I think it might be a better and a more fair competition that you only can see the other entries when the competition is close.
