Can SRS Microsystems be trusted?

I am planning on buying a K20D + 18-55mm + 55-300mm as a package from SRS Microsystems. It is not cheap and so would like reasurance that they are trustworthy. BTW do you get free postage from them if you are a member of this forum, or am i confusing it with another?

Search this forum for SRS and see if you can find a bad report about them.

Doesn't the fact that they are a Pentax Pro centre mean anything to you?

Of course they are trustworthy, they are a professional and hugely knowledgeable retail operation, not just box shifters.

Where you get the impression that they are not cheap is a mystery to me. It all depends on how much value you place on a knowledgeable sales force and after sales service. Try getting Pixmania to do a warranty exchange, after you've read the French manual that they supply.

EDIT: Having re-read your post I realise that it is the package you have chosen that you say is not cheap. That's not surprising at all, but it's getting cheaper almost by the day.

I am taking my first steps into the DSLR world (but not a complete newbie to photography) and so a few things are new to me. Especially the prices. I had not realised that they were an authorised Pentax dealer so thanks.

I'm surprised that you say they're not cheap. I have always found them to be within a few quid of the cheapest (non eBay) box shifter. I have every confidence in Chris and SRS - you can talk to them on the phone and they are really helpful.

I don't have quite the devotion to SRS that most members here have but would prefer to deal with them than save ten quid.

I know that compared to others they are cheap, but it is still a lot of money.

Not much else to say - when I purchased a K20D, DA*16-50, DA*50-135 DA*300 plus a few other filters, memory card &c, they were actually cheaper than anywhere else.

Don't worry about them - totally trustworthy.

Oh if you mean your choice of equipment isn't cheap I agree and I couldn't afford it for sure! I got a refurb K10D from SRS and added the lenses I wanted as I went along.

I would find the 55-300 too long to use and would get a wide angle first but that's a very personal choice.

on the same theme, i am looking to get a bag from Wilkinson Cameras as SRS don't do the one i am after. Any feedback?

i got a hama one of ebay they do lots but you just gotta look in right place type this on ebay (NEW Hama Photo Rucksack Camera Bag SLR Backpack)
it well made and you can gat for about £25 hope this helps

the one that i was looking at was the KATA PB-48. I don't want a rucksack so this was the best i could find

well it seems pricy to me but its not my money if your happy with shoulder bag go for it

if it seems pricy, what would you suggest instead?
must: be weatherproof (dust + rain)
hold k20d + 2 lenses (possibly battery grip also)
drop proof (no cracked lenses)

most camera bags are weatherproof. if you like it go for it when you got good kit you wanna protect it all i say is i paid 25 for mine it holds 3 lenses camera + battery grip and i had no probs also i had my k100d super in it in bad rain with no probs and the bag your looking at i would expect to be very good maybe im just a bargain hunter or a cheapskate
