I'm not even sure viewfinder has any Pentax gear... let alone dealt with SRS
But I could be wrong...

I placed my first order with SRS on Saturday. It was delivered Tuesday. Now that pleased me but what pleased me more was that unlike any other supplier they had it in stock. Oh by the way it was a new focus screen because I stuffed the original. Any supplier stocking the nitty gritty bits has to be worth supporting. Thank you SRS, now what else do I need?

i have just had my first dealing with SRS... my new lens is now awaiting my collection at the post office. originally i ordered the lens from another company and were told "8-10 days"... several months later and it's still not in stock, so i called SRS two days ago.
friendly people on the 'phone too.
you can't beat great customer service... which is why i will always buy Oakley shades over any others, despite the cost.

Pentax k1000, MX, ME Super, K5iiD 18-55, Tamron 70-300, Tamron 500 mirror, pentax 10-17, 50 1:4, a manual 28, some extension tubes and a bagful of memory cards. That's all i need... and a load of film cameras too... that's it, honest.

Yes,...I do own pentax and have had three separate systems since my S1a in 1970 ....but probably not for much longer.
Yes,....I have bought from SRS two times,..although neither were pentax as they were medium format lenses as I remember.
SRS is an adequate dealer in a field of abysmal ineptitude. They are no better than they should be and would be average in many other retail areas or dealerships. it's only the others being so bad that gives them any presence. Like all retail outlets they exist to make a profit, not for the benefit of the customers (something the followers of this site should remember) Out of all pentax outlets in the UK there SHOULD be ONE that is ok.....thats not too much to ask and SRS effctively has no competitors that I can see (as far as pentax goes anyway)
And, they need to do something about their website/pricing policy.....
Wearing one of my other hats I sometimes buy musical instruments and the dealers have to try hard as a matter of course. I normally get delivery next day by courier and can remember many small instances of excellent service from several dealers far removed from my locality and including some USA operations who are also excellent.
In yet another area I have recently aquired several machine tools and accessories and have found exemplary service, politeness and efficiency.
Why is it so unique to find it where cameras are sold to amatuers and consumers...????

I tend to subscribe to the 'SRS are actually rather excellent' school of thought myself. Every single dealing I have had with them has been faultless and that includes after sales where a faulty or suspect item was replaced without fuss and very efficiently.
Yes other dealers may be 'abysmal' but I would not lump SRS in to the 'just above category'. From my experience they are probably one of the best retailers I have dealt with period (any product or market). I actually think the web site / pricing is rather good.
If you feel there is anything there amiss why don't you pick up the phone and speak to them, they are really rather approachable and pleasant to deal with

I too have found SRS to be knowledgable, friendly and helpful. Of course they want to make a profit, that's how they earn a living. Profit is not a dirty word.
Some people see a glass as half full, some as half empty, so we should accept that, but I think SRS's glass is rather more than half full!

Is that the top half or bottom?SRS's glass is rather more than half full
I know it`s unusual on this site, but I have never dealt with SRS so cannot comment on how good they are, but I do know an awful lot of people here rate them very highly, as the main reason for me visiting pentaxuser is to get the opinion of others with more knowledge then it would seem obtuse to ignore their overwelming reccomendations of SRS. Certainly when my wife buys me the DA 12-24 I`ve been lusting after I shall be using SRS. Would seem stupid not to.

I think you've summed it up Davex, so on that note time to put this thread to bed....
