Sir Humphrey couldn't have put it more succinctly himself

I heard on Radio 4 earlier today that Albert Speer had been in Spandau Ballet for 25 years. Really?

I'm sure that's just an excuse for ignoring this thread, then feeling guilty... Or an actual Brainfart... in which case you can smell something that no-one else can smell seeing as it's insied your own face/head...

I been having a few plumbing problems in the bathroom
Until I dismantled the drainage for the sink I had forgotten about the incredibly crap design of internal overflows in sinks and what follows them to the waste pipe
I suppose the Ben Elton Sketch about the 'Ministry of Crap Design' actually had some truth to it

The Circumlocution Department has been aound since the middle of the 1800s. See Pickwick Papers.
Nothings changed - The Men from the Ministry; Yes Minister all repeat after a while and still topical today.
Good news at last - The letters I've been anticipating have eventualy arrived from Liverpool, advising that my pension will be in my bank within the next 28 days. Good job I'm not desparate init.

Good news indeed Bernard.
My good news is that the Chinese package arrived today!
It only took the royal mail 29 days to get it to me, the Chinese postal system had it on the flight here 24 hours after posting!

More likely HMRC HG.
Glad you are getting your pension eventually Bernard.
It will be interesting to see how long it takes for His Nibs to get the British part of his pension. He got sent a load of forms to fill in, only to find at the end that he didn't need to - the Dutch pension folks deal with it all for us - but they said normally takes 6 months before they get the money from the UK.

Yes we only get the British part of it once it is actually paid to the Dutch organisation. Which, if it does take six months means a bit of struggle to start with, followed by a nice lump sum hopefully. It will be a struggle anyway since the bulk of his pension is an annuity, which we have to take, with lousy interest rates, which of course are then set for life.Do they make you wait for six months as well?
I might have to look into selling photos .

ooo I'm glad I don't have to wait 6 months. One month is bad enough, especially as it's not something that sudenly happens - it was predictable many years ago.
