So, that's it done for another year. Turkey consumed, Christmas pud too. But I am stone cold sober. I had to drive home. As always .
It's been a long day and now I'm off to bed. Get some rest before my daughter-out-law's birthday on Friday. I don't think I shall be doing too much tomorrow. Getting drunk maybe to make up for today, and Friday, but otherwise not a lot.

His nibs has lots of leave to use up, which he can't carry over so he is off until January 2nd. He even had Christmas Even off.
Enjoy the quiet at work Gareth - you'll get so much more done with the rest away.

First eBay packages went off this morning - Tyldesley was so quiet, apart from the Outraged Lady in the Post Office. They did treat her very well though. She was outraged because someone had sent her a letter/card/package that had insufficient postage on it and she wasn't going to pay to collect it!
She wasn't even in the sorting office....

We didn't have any problems this year, but I won't go and collect things from the post office if people are too stupid not to put the correct postage on the item.

Let's hope it's not a substantial cheque that you don't collect! We didn't have any problems this year, but I won't go and collect things from the post office if people are too stupid not to put the correct postage on the item.
There was one did not collect that was annoying earlier this year. I sent a book out (eBay sale) and the recipient claimed non arrival. Claimed she had checked at the sorting office. So I refunded, but some weeks later it was returned "Notice left, did not collect" - what a waste of time.
Best regards, John

I had a missed delivery a few years back so went online to arrange redelivery. When it didn't arrive I phoned and was told that it had been sent back because I didn't collect it and that there was no point using the online system because it didn't work.
The sooner the Post Office is privatised the better. I only use them when I have to. The other companies I use are cheaper, faster and more reliable.

trouble with the other companies is that you have to travel a long way in to the next city to collect a parcel. Royal Mail leaves parcels at a local post office now that their main sorting depot has moved.

I did rather well this year
A card arrived from Dublin - no stamp of any flavour And I wasn't asked for any money for it
I told the sender - seems it had gone through his company's franking machine , through the Irish Postal System and through ours, and hadn't been caught What it did have were the two sort of orangey lines from the sorting machines .

An example of "Better Service" we had gone out for an hour or two for last minute items before going on holiday the next day. On arrival back home there was a card in the door reading "Your item is in the bin". We had arranged with the neighbours to put the bin out for emptying. Had we gone on holiday earlier that would have been the package dumped. I'm sure there are many other 'horror' stories out there.
