I have to admit that of the many hospitals I have spent time in the food at Chrsitie Hospital Manchester was excellent - salad with off the bone 'crumbly' ham - fantastic - plus legging it off to the Laughing Buddha in Didsbury for a meal and a few pints the night before an operation also had it's plus points

I was in Ipswich hospital and it`s difficult to describe how awful it was. If daughter wasn`t a Doc I would think we get better despite hospitals, not because of them.

Ooh. And I'm only 4 away from 3,000!

I'm sure at least one of them was intelligent.

She'd fit right in with this thread don't you think?

As to sprouts - my husbands portion is on and cooking .

I've finally managed to get my Christmas cards for Australia, the US and the UK in the post.
They've been here a week, but I couldn't get the right stamps for them.
We don't have post offices any more so you have to go to certain shops for stamps and stuff and none of them had the rights stamps. Every day I'd try again, and still they didn't have them. Eventually one of them had managed to get some - and I bought the entire stock of stamps for Europe (all of 20 stamps!) from them, much to the annoyance of the woman behind me in the queue. I was accused of being antisocial. Tough. I doubt she would have only bought half if she needed them all.

Now of course we've received cards from people I haven't sent them to - nieces and nephews have suddenly decided to send cards .
Not only don't I have any more stamps, but I only had enough cards printed for last years list. Grrr.

Is there no online stamps supplier Gwyn? It's hard to imagine a postal service with no post offices, although no doubt we will get there given time.

I could have ordered online - but only in much larger quantities. Christmas is really the only time I send post abroad so it would be a waste to order a lot of stamps.
I think the nieces and nephews will get an e-card .

I've been using the remainders from my stamp collecting days, still have a lot to use up but there are many lower value and to make up the 50p second class rate uses four stamps eg 4 x 12½p
