Another pointless thread

Good luck on the part one Gareth, remember to relax and listen to what the examiner wants you to do, if you're not sure ask, you can't fail for asking but you can if you cock it up!

I know, I used to be a part one examiner in an earlier life.

Why not get a set of used steel rims: - that should do the job at the right price for you

Lets face it the winter road treatment is best kept for used wheels rather than bright shiny new ones

I agree with the above re steel rims. The cost will be recouped very quickly when you consider you would otherwise be charged by the garage/tyre-fitter every time they change them over.

It's not the Mod 2 which bothers me. Been driving long enough that I'm confident I should get through it. Just remember to make lots of shoulder checks!

It's the Mod 1 where you have to go around a curve at 31mph and swerve. Which I'd be happy to do on another bike, it's just mine is still running-in and I'm not supposed to go full-throttle.

The test centre is right by my house. I might just have to drive around the block to get the engine warmed-up!

These bike tests seem very complicated now. In my day you rode round the block as the examiner ran down the allies to catch sight of you as and when he could. Oh and jump out for the emergency stop.

Why are fish&chip shop chips so soggy?

I've checked with my expert of 38 years frying.

1. Put into the pan when the fat is not hot enough. so they boil not fry.
2. Not drained long enough.
3. Wrong potatoes.
4. The new wrapping does not let steam out as newspaper used to.

It does appear to be quite consistant across the country, so I suppose it must be down to the wrapping.

Biggest problem - cheap vegetable oil.

Go to a proper chip shop where they still fry in beef dripping. I recommend this place, if you're ever in the area.

Lancashire people can't stand the muck (dripping) that
they use to cook chips in in Y*rkshir3

Today I found the perfect solution in Mr J Sainsburys ....
Wash it down with 500ml bottles of Marstons or Spitfire
Bitter on special offer at only £1 per bottle

Half Man... Half Pentax ... Half Cucumber

Pentax K-1 + K-5 and some other stuff

Really?? Mrs Moore's at the top of the street in Chadderton where my husband lived cooked everything in dripping. Guaranteed this effete southerner a week's worth of heartburn. (Though that may have been the cow-heel pie ma-in-law made :shock
