Seconded.

I remember the oppen air lido in Lister park, Bradford.

I also remember it being demolished back in the 90s and bulldozed into the pool!

It's now a gentle green pasture in the park where people have picnics.

Ah, memories....

Edit due to wine!

there is still an excellent open air pool at Ilkley.

Off to Hadrians Wall country for the week. Thank goodness the temperature is set to drop. I hate hot holidays

Thunderstorms on their way here. Hot and humid with clouds building. First rain due at about 19.00 as just a brief shower with T-storms due a couple of hours later.
It will be a relief if they do arrive tbh.

An Olympic Games question - why did the bells ring at 08.12 today? Wouldn't it have made more sense to have them ring this evening at 20.12??

I'll go wash my mouth out now for mentioning the OG.

Spotted a rare item on the bus on the way to the Gateshead Flower Show.
A well dressed elderly gentleman got on the bus in Ashington and he was carrying a black square ( leather? ) box complete with shoulder strap and the box was clearly marked ( pressed into the leather) Ashai Pentax 6 x 7. He also had a large well used cylinder on a strap which could have contained anything. Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to speak to him.

Gwyn, the bells were rung this morning @ 10 past eight because it was 12 hours before the Games are opened tonight (ten-past-eight, p.m.), & ringing bells is more a morning- sort-of-thing in this country.

I heard three sets this morning: Big Ben, for loads of times; our Parish Church of St.s Peter & Paul, for 5 minutes; our front-door bell, for about one minute 'cause it's not used that often & is pretty-well knackered. (But it's the thought that counts!)

Come on all you G.B. People, have a wonderful, successful & SAFE Games!

Roger.

I thought the ceremony starts at 9pm BST?

Ah well. Clearly I am confused. Nothing new there.

Still waiting for that rain to fall - we had three drops and that was all.

Sorry, Gwyn. It's clearly me that's confused over the significance of the time, but it was good to hear & join in!

I'm sure you'll soon get all the rain you want/need soon enough.
