My man Geoff said what do you like ? - I said Classic FM - couldn`t hear a thing for the clunking and knocking - I think one was Holst Jupiter !!

Anything to get rid of this constant nerve pain in the lower jaw and lips and stop the morphine which makes me dopey and nauseous.

Don`t even enjoy a drinl at the moment - sorry HG - just not in the mood.

Hope you didn't have your camera with you! Not sure even the Spotmatic could survive that.

All the best Tony. Your a tough one, it's got to be said.

Why is women' s footie and sporting events a contradiction in terms , is girls soccer unsporting,? I'm totaly thick when it comes to sport of any kind , because I was made to play rugby at school ( I was big for my age )it put me right off it I could never get" the will to win" thing .....
It's very hot here just now we get up early do the chores ,watering picking veg and stuff, then spend the rest of the day keeping cool till the evening, then walk the dogs a few more jobs then a glass or two then crash out .... pheww ... jeff

Jeff - just Gareth's little joke. He doesn't really mean it. Well not much anyway.

Hot here too, finally. 30C today. My dog refuses to walk any further than he has to in this weather. Even walking to the pond for a swim was too much for him today.

Good luck Tony

Sorry to hear that more treatment may be required but at least it should help sort that problem

I reckon I speak for us all when I say we have our fingers crossed for you

Sorry to hear you're a little under the weather Tony.

I'll be thinking of you when I next have a beer.

I did say next,I'm actually dry at the moment, it's too hot for beer and too late for wine when I get home from work around 10 past 10.

Maybe I need some, dare I say it,lager in the fridge.
Cheers, HG

New Brighton Lido was just a nice place to visit
Nothing nicer on a really hot sunny day than getting the
ferry boat from Liverpool and going over to New Brighton
Baths .... there might even be a beauty contest on

http://www.soyouwantto.co.uk/newbrightonlido.html

Those were the days when you could also take a movie camera
into a pool and record memories like these people have...

The Lido was flattened in the heavy storms a few years ago

I remember the open air pool at Tynemouth. There were all sorts of events during the summer. The bathing beauties were a sight for sore eyes. Now the pool is just an eyesore.

Cheddar open air baths. Once a pleasant place to relax and swim, the last time we saw it a derelict mess.

I wonder if it's been renovated or removed by now?

One reason I can't swim well was the open air pool down by the Thames at Sunbury. I never had lessons and it was just a miserable place to go.

My kids used to swim at our local open-air pool when they were very young. They did their zwem-vierdaagse there every year. Four days after each other, 20 lengths of a 50 metre pool. Usually in the pouring rain with me sheltering under the diving plank.

That pool is now long gone, having been sold off by our council for a guilder so Holiday Inn could build a luxury hotel there instead .

We still have two lovely outside pools not far away though, both set in woodland with big sunbathing meadows around them.
In the glorious summers of the 1990's my, by then teenage, kids lived at one of them. I'd buy season tickets and have the price back within a week. They'd go straight from school to the pool and come home when it shut. Many a romance started at that pool.
