Hear hear - well said Steve !
Le Big Mac ? Le Weekend ??
As you say , a living language is just that - an ever evolving thing - I am a great fan of Eric Partridge and his Dictionary of Slang - amazing what we used to consider "rude" words which we now use daily and happily.

You have to admire the French, they still have a Motor Industry. Their cars are very well supported by the home market.
Pentax Europe is now based in France. Presumably they now control what happens to Pentax in the UK and perhaps set UK prices!

As long as language does not degenerate into text speak.
My elder daughter is really getting irritated beyond belief by people submitting what are meant to be formal reports of proceedings, which are almost unintelligible because of the way in which they are written.
It appears that sentence construction is no longer taught as it might inhibit the fluency of childrens' writing

Speak for yourself. Not all of us would accept that the vocabulary of the scouser is acceptable in everyday intercourse. amazing what we used to consider "rude" words which we now use daily and happily.

But seriously, Tozza, I think you are in a bit of a time-warp regarding stadia. Even I use stadiums, and I am punctilious to a fault concerning correct English. Or insufferably pedantic, as some might say.
My own little idiosyncrasy is to drop the H when pronouncing hotel. Few people still do that.
Many years ago I worked for somebody who spelt shown with an E.

The world really does need us/we pedants though - thanks be to Lynne Truss and the Daily Telegraph letters page contributors.
The misplaced apostrophe still sends me into an apoplectic lather !!
