Never mind Stan - you get a North Sea cruise .

Newkie Brown must be one of the few things to have lost it's EU protected status. Thanks to Heineken of course.

Just checked the shipping forecast and its only force 5 - 7 moderating later in the areas we should cross so we'll not even know we are at sea
Probably means the restaurant will be full though
Looked at the weather forecast for Valkenburg and it's wooly hat weather I think, I've also packed a long sleeved shirt just in case

I thought you were made of sterner stuff being a Northerner and all

10C daytime temps. A bit warmer in Venlo.

The days of North Sea crossings being exciting are long gone with these huge ferries.

I've just had a letter from my bank warning me about "Boiler Room" scams.

I haven't spent 50 years working to acheive almost penuary for nothing, so how is someone working for the "south sea bubble company" going to get any brass out of me?

I just tried to book a hotel room in the 'Sarf' during the Olympic Games; Holiday Inn Express £365 per night!!!!!!!!!!!

Profiteering or what?

That is ridiculous Ken.

I wonder where my son will be put for the Olympics if those are the prices being charged. Not that he is paying but I can't see the company being too happy paying that sort of money for all the those covering the Olympics.

Looks Like I will be in the UK just after they've finished.

I`m going to Cornwall and then Jersey in August !! They`re welcome to their silly games - financial and sporting - as usual we are conned into believing it`s "good for the country" ??

Pity my daughter - poor old Emma is Field Intelligence Officer for the Games with the Metropolitan Police - all leave cancelled for 3 months AND she has to commute in from E.Sussex daily and back out again !!
And as a real kicker - she could be back on the beat come September because of the cutbacks !!

I'm having nothing to do with the Olympics, after they turned down an ex rugby league player as a flame carrier, who having been diagnosed with an incurable stomach cancer about 4 years ago has raised thousands for charity since doing unbelievable endurance events. He received the MBE in 2010 so why can't he carry the flame. I can't honestly think of anyone more deserving.

He's just run in the Paris marathon, then cycled to Calais, is about to cross the Channel in a kayak, cycle Dover to London and then run in the London marathon...... but he still can't carry the flame

I'm just done with the Olympics. Full stop.
Not to mention the footie European Championship, Tour de France, Wimbledon, Jubilee, blah blah blah.
And I don't even live in the UK.

Please let us have a nice summer this year.

Cornwall, good choice Tony, I will see if I can organise some good weather, but no promises.

Take care.
