Last year we were told that we couldn't buy 'duty free' because we were flying from the UK to Sweden (via Amsterdam)!

It was classed as an internal flight.

Strange that in Spain, Holland or Sweden there were no similar restrictions!

Just the UK tax man wanting more??
Cheers, HG

There is nothing wrong with the tax system in this country. I have paid tax since my first pay cheque when I was 15 yrs old and expect to be paying income tax and all the other stealth taxes, VAT etc., until I die. How else is the government supposed to support the Great Unwashed and the Can't Work Wont Work etc. etc. etc.

Which is why we don't do politics on Pentax User, please try to avoid slipping into the subject, it just causes arguments and offence.

Lenses are in the dishwasher, batteries warming in the hearth, memory cards are loose in the bottom of me bag rattling about with a K20 and K5. Spare socks and boxers piled up and ready to pack. Woohoo! Edinburgh here we come. Well, Saturday will see the exodus from drought ridden sleepy Suffolk.

Tickets booked for seeing the Pandas and new tapes for the video camera are packed. Just hope they are out and about. Thanks to everyone who suggested places to visit.
Enjoy life

It's a good question that, Dave.

Just finished work, back on the late shifts so I'm sat here with a large G'n'T.

Bangers and mash lasted , oh, about 5 minutes, I was a touch hungry...

I did think that "Duty Free" had been abolished within the EU. We had to produce a boarding pass showing a none EU destination to be allowed to buy things "Duty Free".

I think it was one of the reasons the channel ferries had a hard time, as they lost a revenue stream.

No duty free for EU flights (except to the Canaries), plus you cannot buy booze in the UK and take it through security at Amsterdam. Not allowed. Same if you fly back from somewhere where you can buy duty free - if you have a connection in Europe they will take it off you at security.

Three hours out of Bergen now. One night in a hotel there then we fly home, with our duty free.

We then collect our poor old dog who has been in the wars while we were away - he got bitten and has had a bad infection in the wound. It will cost us a packet in vets bills no doubt, in addition to the kennel fees.

Does the kennel not take some responsibility?

Anyway, have you ever wondered what to do with the time lapse function on your Pentax?

I won a teleconverter on Ebay a few days back and was wondering why it had not arrived yet so fired off a stroppy email to the seller.

Just got a reply saying they would be happy to send it once I had paid.

Ooops.
