It's not, but it's not always too evenly balanced and I've had too many scares carrying bits up the ladder. 3 pulleys sounded good at the time, it was cheap, and I could get SWMBO to quite easily pull the rope while I manouvered the load sideways up top.
Not used too frequently (once a month-ish), depends on when I tidy up.

So I assume this is so you can lift the bed, sweep all your rubbish under it then lower it back down.

I'm getting plagued by people claiming to work for facebook selling facebook advertising. I tell them I don't know what facebook is and ask them to explain it to me...

Perhaps he's re-enacting a scene from Wallace and Gromit and this is an elaborate way to get breakfast!

Not quite. My (wood) workshop is a converted garage and I store timber in the loft under the pitched roof. I tidy up only when I need to (lost a chisel or other tool in the shavings etc) or when I get earache from tramping sawdust into the house. Roughly once a month

You could try this.
http://www.tridentuk.com/sailing/product-Rooster_Polilite_7mm-RLROPP7.html
Climbing rope is deigned not to twist. You could pick some up at an outdoor shop.
Although you might be better with abseiling rope - less springy by design.

Magic, thank you.
Local suppliers all told me that 8mm was the smallest, but I see that 6mm is available.
Looks like problem solved.
I've just realised that wasn't a pointless theme, sorry about that
