Finally thawed out the washing machine, and got a load of washing on, thank goodness.
Our electric bill will be high, but still less than a new machine would have been.
HG - doesn't your licence say when it was first issued on it? Can't you send the insurers a copy of it to prove you have a full licence, maybe with a letter from your employers stating you have ridden a bike for them for umpteen years?
It's -6 and a bit cloudy here, no more snow so far. It is officially a "cold wave" here - at least 5 consecutive 24 hour periods with the temperature below 0 and at least 3 days with a minimum below -10C. Last one was in 1997.

What on earth has date of birth got to do with it (unless you put down 1997) I haven't ridden a bike in over 40 years but my license still lists it as one of my abilities. They did try dropping it off some time back but I complained and had it re-instated. I can also drive a tracked vehicle but have never even sat on/in one.
Unlikely SWMBO would countenance me getting a bike now, but then again she might decide the insurance is worth the value
By the way the actor is none that has been suggested so far and its starting to bug us as we can't even think what we last saw him in.
regards
Bernard

It's off the back cover sheet of a book published in 1979
If I tell you the title of the book then you're likely to jump to the wrong conclusion, as have a lot of our friends that have already seen the original.
ie Whilst the photograph is the books author there is an actor who is an absolute dead ringer and it's he we are trying to identify.

Have you checked the author isn't the actor - using either a nom de plume or stage name?

The problem is I want to buy a 125cc bike for commuting and they think I can't ride!
Despite the fact that I have 9 years no claims on my BMW the companies think, because I haven't ridden a 600cc or above bike in the last 12 months, that I'm a 'born again' rider.
There's no way of letting them know that I've been riding for 36 years, the last 25 as a Park Ranger.
As for 'what licence' I have..
...it's a full UK one with A,D, and E entitlement...
K110+DA40, K200+DA35, K3 and a bag of lenses, bodies and other bits.
Mustn't forget the Zenits, or folders, or...
PPG entries.
