Another pointless thread

Welcome back Barrie and Margaret

I am glad you are both on the mend, whilst not on the same scale I am not having it all my own way today

Just to give you a bit of a laugh - for the last 8 years or so I have used the same gym and for the last few years I have been around 12stone to 12 stone 4 (not a body builder obviously)- my better half is on a diet and we now have scales

It would appear that having checked 3 sets of scales the gym ones tell me I am exactly 12 stone tonight

the other two sets tell me I am in fact 12 stone 9lb which for 5ft 8 makes me under height for my weight

The six nations starts this weekend - all of a sudden the annual bacon hock butty binge at half time seems to be a no no

Ah... Rugby, rugby, rugby, rugby.

So, any predictions? Can't see Scotland winning.

Who knows - and truthfully who cares ?

This is where we all gossip and catch up with each other's doings ?

Beer and booze generally are normal topics .

Beer AND booze?

Talking of which, out in Edinburgh tonight for drinks. Should be good for Banter with the England Rugby supporters.

Weird weather here today. -6, sunshine and snow all at the same time. I could do without the snow, which is getting heavier and deeper .

I can cope with -6 or even -10 which is forecast for tomorrow but I HATE SNOW.

-4.5C here this morning, very cold for us softies.

Tomorrow is a wedding shoot up near the hills, so we'll see what the weather brings. Last year we did a wedding at Harome near Pickering in Yorkshire and it was deep snow. That was a serious trauma to get to and from, so we're hoping for better weather for this one!
Best regards, John

Yesterday was the first time all winter that the car showed a below-freezing temperature and that was only -3°C!

A few years back when I lived in the countryside it was below -10°C for over a week and dropped as far as -20°!

I don't think Mini are too happy about the cold spell: link

I once got into my car and thought that the thermometer had failed, it certainly felt colder than 9C, wait a moment... its -9C!

But then again I once tried to pay the 'time' in a restaurant in Bradford; 23.49, well it was the bottom line on the bill and it was also a long time ago, no chance of making that mistake now.

Mini certainly made a mistake with that one.

I love cold weather, when we get clear sunny days. Everyone gets excited at the prospect of skating tours and the biggie the elfstedentocht. It won't last long enough for that though this year.
Soon after we moved here we had a couple of really cold winters, and two elfstedentochten in successive years. The kids had "ijsvrij" - ice free, so they could watch it on tv, and also their PE lessons consisted of skating on the local ponds. Mothers provided hot chocolate to warm them up afterwards.

The snow is serious now. Hopefully it will pass soon though. Still -6 too.

Try that in the UK and the PC brigade; the H&S evangelists would make your life hell.

Just back from walking the dog. some 10cm of snow. Looks lovely but is horrible to walk in and even worse to drive through.

If it is any consolation to those of you in the UK there is traffic chaos and the trains are struggling here, just as happens in the UK.
Only difference here we don't claim Siberian weather or Arctic weather or that it is colder than Antarctica ( which the Daily Mail claimed earlier this week :roll.
