I'm sure you'll have a great time in Cornwall Tony, only been there once (up to now)stayed in Polpero then acroos to Bude. The best thing about Cornwall I thought was the fact it looks a lot bigger on the map than it seems when you get there, everywhere just seemed to be "a day out" distance away. If you get up to Jamaica Inn there used to be a museum next door with a "Victorian" display of things like a schoolroom of stuffed kittens etc. There are (or were) examples of the taxidermist's early attempts
Hope all goes well medical wise, I go for my yearly "chat and blood test" on the 16th. Think I'm due a colonoscopy sometime this year for the other,
hope that is before Floriade

We have just agreed on a great cottage near Wadebridge,N.Cornwall for a week with the two munchkins and their mommies in June - 2 mins from the beach and the sun sets right in front of the house.Metal detector and fishing rods will be going and I now have something to focus on for the year !
First tests for the new medication on Tuesday - we shall see if anything is occurin` - also my infusion to keep the bones strong.Maybe a month is too soon but I can hope eh ?
New PC hopefully arrives this week too as does Joclick`s birthday - 10-01-45 - doesn`t look it or feel it !!

Hi Tony.

I will have a word with the greater power, to ensure that is a good week, weather wise, can’t guarantee any luck with the fishing rods though, but plenty of action, for the metal detector, you could stake a claim on your own tin/copper/silver, not to mention arsenic, mine.

My great grandfather was one of those Cornishmen, you would find at the bottom of a deep hole in the ground.

Hope you have a good holiday.

All the best.
Take care.

we love Cornwall, we are going to Looe in September, have not been that end for many years but before that in May we are going back to Kennack Sands for the third year running. if you can get down to Lizard village there is the Regent cafe. the food is gorgeous, any thing from burger in a bun to venison steak and all tastes in between, but you will have to wait as it is not cooked until it is ordered and i defy you not to have a sweet. hope to get to Kynance cove down there this time to see the caves ,see how good this k5 is in damp ,low light.
have fun

UPDATE........................no fool like an old fool they say !!!

I just got the confirmation details and looked at the cottage on GoogleEarth/Streetview - it`s Widemouth not Wadebridge ( where we were last year ) - sorry about that - not far from Bude and 2 minutes from the beach.......................still looks amazing and we will no doubt be back to Rock/Padstow and Boscastle.I`ll mention Lizard village to Emma who will be in charge of logistics once we arrive - the VW T2 is perfect for all of us to move at once with the assorted clutter !!

will be quite bracing on Lizard point this time of year. Kynance cove is not far from Lizard but you need low tide for the caves and to keep an eye on the tide if you do go to see them. have a nice time. we did a similar thing in November , the wife retired and decided lets go to Lynmouth just because it was the first time she did not have to clear it with anybody, it was great, quiet and relaxing. these plces are wonderful without the crowds.

Wow - 2000 posts - seems like only yesterday I gingerly introduced myself the website as I was a bit scared of "real" photographers !!!

I need not have worried - you are a great bunch of people and I have enjoyed/hope to continue to enjoy our banter for many moons.

Now for 2500.................................

I must agree with you there Tony, I was worried that I would make a fool of myself by asking stupid questions.

I needn't have worried.

Got a new toy today, an Android phone..

...so far it's managed to confuse me completely!

After a lot of indecision, Piper the labrador has finally gone to the great puppy park in the sky where he is probably already busy knocking clouds over in his usual inelegant way.

He was very old and infirm and the time was right. He had the brains of a demented puppy and the grace of a bulldozer but was always happy and friendly.

And although the kids seem to be handling it well the cat seems to know something is wrong but she can't work out what.

RIP Piper.

Lovely picture of Piper. Looks like the dog had a fun life. A friend of mine had to let her labrador go too recently. I really miss him as I used to dog sit for them, he was a rescue dog and scared of everything. He wouldn't go out if the wind was too loud in the trees. Never had any inclination to have one of my own though.

Do what I did HG - cancel the internet connection and the apps and just use it as a touchscreen phone - I hardly need it for interwebbing as I`m never far from my pc !

£10 / month from Orange with 100 minutes and 500 texts - rubbish ringtones though .....................

I've been looking at the Dolphin 7 sim Tony, £7 for 250MB download plus 500 text and 150 min talk time.

I first need to get my head around what does what, I keep trying to call friends in Sweden!!

I'll get my head around it eventually, until then...

There's not much point having an Android phone and not making use of the internet... for simple calls, an old school push button phone is much better! Perhaps it's just me, but I'm constantly misdialling or dialling in error, and tapping in numbers during internet banking calls etc is rather difficult.

I would recommend 3's £15 a month unlimited internet plan, or their £10 a month 2GB sim-only plan, both include lots of free minutes and texts too. I use my phone as a modem. Not much use if your phone is locked to Orange though
