Well beware Gwyn this could turn into another spectacle like the one at St Pauls cathedral!

Unlike the crew in the middle of Bradford...

..they've occupied the new city park...

....a couple of days before the council were going to test the fountains...

...............where they're camping!!!!!

Apparently the global population is to reach 7 billion today.

A baby in India is expected to claim the title. Now how is that provable?

Are we being watched?

Best regards

The 7 billion thing is purely estimate. Many countries lack the framework to report population accurately, so the best guess is that it will be today. It's quite likely that we already have more than 7 billion people on the planet.

As for the "occupy" movement I think they have a point but are not exactly helping their cause with some of their antics. Occupying St Paul's is not really going to bother the stock exchange much, and certain media outlets are already going out of their way to discredit the groups involved by demonstrating silly mistakes for a campaign (like most of the tents allegedly being empty overnight).

They pick a baby at random to be # 7billion.

I agree the Occupy movement has a point - but not this bunch of nutters occupying the corner of a wood which is publicly owned, and a long way from any bankers/government/stock brokers.

I had a nice chat to some of the 'Occupy Birmingham' people on Saturday. They were a very small group, and had been enclosed, along with nearly all of Victoria Square, in security fencing. The reason? An EDL protest planned the same day, which caused the whole city centre to go on lock-down, swarming with thousands of police and riot vans.

When logging in to the forum which section do you look at first? For me it's Classified Adverts to see what new toys are on offer. Then I see if I can find a review of the item, then go to various other sites to compare prices, then decide I can't afford it and spend a little time convincing myself I don't need it, which is usually the most difficult part of the whole procedure

I just go to 'recent activity' but when I see something in the Classifieds I do exactly the same as you do, Stan! Fortunately the item has usually sold by the time I decide to make an offer!!

I too just go to recent activity. I rarely look at classifieds as I know I can't afford anything anyway.

I just stare into space and dream of the day when I can retire, (18 months 3 weeks and 2 days to go). Then I can grow old disgracefully.

Be careful of what you wish for I took early retirement and since then have wondered how I ever found the time to go to work. My wife retired early too about 5 months after me and she thinks the same. It's amazing how busy you will find yourself.

That's the point, I want to be busy doing the things that I want to do and not what the bosses want me to do. I want to get out of bed because I want to, not because I have to.
I knew too many old friends who have "died of boredom", because of nothing to do after retirement.
That is why I am making myself busy now with my photography and our weekend camping trips.
My wife and I have decided that we will retire together Ahhh! Even though she is 8 years younger than me.

Yes, I know of people who couldn't cope with retirement too, and quite a lot who didn't make it to retirement, one of the reasons I quit when I did.
I know for sure the prostate cancer would not have been detected (I took part in random screening) until too late and a year later the bowel cancer. Now I feel every day above ground is a bonus not to be wasted

I am looking forward to my husband's retirement with mixed emotions. It will be good to have him home after a marriage where he has been away a lot, but the financial side of things means life will be very tough. His pension is vanishing with every share drop. He doesn't get a full state pension here and has bits and bobs of pensions all over the place - none of which add up to anything very much.
The house has to go, assuming we ever find someone daft enough to buy it. We may end up in one of those tents by the woods yet.

Since living here I have never found a job - not enough Dutch, too qualified, not qualified enough, wrong sort of qualifications, recessions and now just too old and too long out of the job market, so we will be relying entirely on his pension.
