A little stiff in the lower back this morning.
It must be shifting the first log delivery for the coming winter.
I think I may have mentioned the fact we have a log burning stove before...

I'm fairly new to this forum but I'm sure I recall someone mentioning a log burning stove and the labour involved in keeping it running. Where ever do you find the time to take photographs? It must be between log deliveries. Do you keep a log of how many logs are delivered?A little stiff in the lower back this morning.

We've been getting plastic bags through the door begging for donations..
..but when you read the small print they're for a company, not a charity.
They make good rubbish sacks though.
Tonight it's a pizza, bottles of beer and wine and hopefully a good nights sleep.
Yep, "Clothe the third world" (I thought we were supposed to call them LEDCs or the developing world now?) but no mention of the fact that they'll have to pay for it!We've been getting plastic bags through the door begging for donations..

Charities in general seem to have gone corporate now. I reckon the only way to guarantee that all of your donation goes to help the people they claim to be helping is to support smaller local charities such as hospices.

When I was in Birmingham the other week I was accosted several times by 'chuggers' who were out in force trying to get people to sign up for direct debits for Guide Dog training for the blind.
The first chap tried to get my interest by saying 'hey nice camera, I've got a Nikon... which unsurprisingly didn't work.
The fourth person who approached me ended up getting a lecture in terms of the relative worthiness of the Guide Dogs charity - I would give charities like Oxfam or The Red Cross (which I already have direct debits set up for) a 10/10 for urgency whereas - while important in their own way - Guide Dogs would only get at best a 2/10. She readily agreed.

The problem with 'street' or 'door to door' charity sellers is the cut they take from the donations.
In some cases the first year's donations go to the sales company not the charity.
That's why we drop bags of goods in at the shops and buy from them.
Direct debit is fine if you can be sure where it's going.
