Yep.

I was an archer with a good handicap, the boss stayed at home.

All archers HAVE to go to France and visit Agincourt at least once.

Well, at least Scotland won. Not much of a game though. Getting past Argentina may be tough!

All this talk of the Q has got me looking at PENs.

Only 2 days to the weekend and the end of 12 days straight working. My 'long' weekend has been cut short as I start a 5 day course for work next Monday, I think I need a holiday to look forward too!

Martin - Malo1961 - went the PEN route I believe.

Your job sounds a bit like my son's HG. In theory he has every Tuesday off (Papadag - his day with the kids) as he works weekends, but frequently the planners "forget" that.
He had Tuesday off this week but he had worked 6 15 hour days prior to it so he was in no state to look after a lively 2 year old all day. He was just about fit by the time the 4 year old came home from school.

He's off to Morocco next week on Tuesday for 4 days, so Oma to the rescue yet again.

The only reason I'm looking at PENs is the fact I can use my (newly acquired) Leica thread lenses on them.

Just been looking at cheap flights, shame three's no cheap hotels available at the other end...

Cheap flights to where? What about self catering?

I've been working on his nibs to take me away somewhere for my birthday. He complains I never know what I want and because of that he tends not to buy me anything (any excuse :roll. SO this year I'll be 55 so I said I want a holiday. I suggested Curaçao - some really cheap deals at the moment, but no, not interested. Cuba? nah. Morocco? nope. Germany? Not in October. Amsterdam?? too expensive .

Guess it will be a birthday at home and no present as per normal then .

Hope you find somewhere swanky to go HG!

It was the boss' 50th last month, that's when this was taken.

We hired a barge and spent the day, with good friends and the kids, on the Leeds Liverpool canal. Beer flowed and food was eaten.

The evening was ameal with even more friends in a local(to the canal) pub.

She had a great time, as did we all.

A holiday may just be a dream at the moment...

...we'll see.

Looks great! Belated congratulations to Mrs HG

I spent my 50th on my son's boat with his nibs, two of three sons and their partners, a couple of brothers, and his nibs sister. We had a wonderful weekend, the weather was kind, the food was excellent and the booze flowed freely.
Third son couldn't go - #1 grandson was only two weeks old and only just out of hospital the day before.

The best holidays tend to be the ones you dream in my experience .

To true.

My 50th was a drunken haze in Barcelona, we've been back twice since for much the same sort of dream.

This link is to a little holiday we had a few years back, We hoped the dream would never end..

..unfortunately it did!

Looks a great trip.
