They'd better drain all of ours then, I don't think the sheep usually bother trying to find a portaloo! Mind you, it would appear to have been a problem caused by having a reservoir for treated water open to the air...

I've actually found another use for my new MZ-7. I've hung it around my neck where its wide strap seems to stop the ache I woke up with.

Breaking news.

The fire brigade, have been put on high alert, as the motors in the shredders at “News International“, are over heating, and could burst into flames at any time.

Luckily it hasn't caused any damage. Another neighbour is out there with his chain saw clearing it from the road and footpath.
That'll burn well after dryong out, fruit wood usually smells nice in the smoke as well.

We could do with burning it tonight.

Ccccccold. Heating still on .

It is sad though - it was a lovely tree and had a good crop on it. We shall miss it.
Still really windy and raining. I got soaked yet again when out with the dog, even wearing full waterproofs.

...and you wonder why we have a downer on people from down south?!!!

Oh well!

The stoves lit here tonight, the house feels damp so a bit of heat is needed to dry it out.

I've just poached my first two eggs!

It's a lot easier than it seems, I'll be doing it again now I know how.

Did you drop them into water or use a poaching pan?
At the spider houshold we cant decide which we like the most, smoked salmon or poached eggs on toast, although the poached eggs just may have the edge

After a quick internet search I tried the not water method.

Get the water simmering so it's 'moving', stir the water so you have a dip in the middle like a whirlpool and drop the egg into the dip.

As the egg starts to cook turn off the heat and leave for 8-10 minutes before scooping out, drying on kitchen roll and serving, in this evenings case, on top of a french style salad.

Delicious!

now I sound like Tony!

And what's wrong with sounding like someone who knows how to cook food ?

I'll admit to using a poaching pan

Does anyone know an easy way of cleaning the egg off a poacher after use?

you mean it stuck to the wee container ?

If so - make sure you add a wee bit of butter to the container [ for want of a better word ] so that it melts before you crack the egg and drop it in . The butter will spread round the container and hopefully the egg , once cooked slides out easily. The you just wash the little containers in hot soapy water - they might need steeping for a bit .

I've tried that. It might be because the black non-stick material is a bit rough and the egg sticks in the pits. I used to have one with shiny alloy cups which was better because you could use a scourer on them. I'll have to try Hardgravity's method with a pan.

It's no wonder that they used to use eggs to seal leaky radiators

Stainless steel pans and scrambled egg do not mix (or, more correctly, they stick together like superglue).

I've ended up buying a cheap non-stick aluminium pan just for scrambled eggs, they don't stick to that!
