But the big news is a guy from Ireland is better at hitting little balls into holes with sticks than some other people. He's a hero! And therefore British!
(Even though Northern Ireland isn't actually part of Great Britain!)

I think you are confused. Britain and Great Britain are not the same at all. Britain is the UK, which includes Northern Ireland, and the adjective for Britain is British. Anyone born in the UK has British nationality automatically. Great Britain is simply an island, nothing more. Eire, no doubt to the annoyance of its citizens, is part of the British Isles, and despite the name, the British Isles are not necessarily British. But the big news is a guy from Ireland is better at hitting little balls into holes with sticks than some other people. Then of course there are the British Islands, which are part of the British Isles, and belong to the Crown, but are not part of the UK. Jersey, Guernsey, inter alia.
Clear?

I'm not confused George. I think if you bothered to read you will find I said that Northern Ireland is not part of Great Britain. What part of that confuses you?

Fell over and sprained both ankles on holiday. Made for a restful, but painful week. They are now multi coloured and still painful. What have you been doing Gwyn ?
It meant I couldn't use the swimming pool by the house which was really annoying. On the plus side it meant Alan did the cooking and washing up.
Now he's back at work and I am tottering around like a 90 year old

@gwyn; sounds painful - how on earth did you manage it?
well, after my experience with gushing oil yesterday it's now a question of whether we can go to the summer house on Wednesday or have to wait until Thursday or maybe even Friday... can't say I'm too bothered either way, but it would be nice to get the 'box set up and its oil changed before the trip.
Need to get some hardware sorted, too - the car PC is finally, after several years of gestation, coming together, as I want music in the car before winter. It's helped along by the fact that it looks like the hall I'd normally be using might be closing again, so if I want a warm, dry place to work that's not mosquito infested, I need to get a wiggle on.

I stepped down off the edge of the tarmac on to a rough area of ground where the car was parked - did it everyday no problem, until I hit a deeper bit unexpectedly and was over. Left leg went first, right leg collapsed along with it. A crumpled heap next to the hire car. Managed to get up by shuffling along to the front of the car and hauling myself up. Not at all dignified I'm afraid. No torn ligaments so no strapping or anything, just rest, ice, elevation and agony.
Hope you get to your summer house soon Bret!

Hard luck Gwyn.
If I'd known the dog needed walking I'd have turned left to the Netherlands rather than right to Zeebrugge yesterday.
Still, I'm home now and all the relaxation will dissolve in despair as I start work tomorrow!

Looking at similar for my next car. I built one for the Discovery but it was a bit cumbersome and took up boot space. I'm considering a Motorola Xoom tablet with a windscreen mount instead, given I really just want a big GPS with a moving map display.

I have the additional problem of hardware that ought to work in -30.... the ee25.2 is certified to -20, the screen to -30, the board only to 0. Ah well, if it doesn't survive, it doesn't survive. But it should. I'll give it a jacket for winter with a heater pad on a thermostat, I think.
For me, it's about music, and lots of it, in excellent quality. Might even get a radio for it
