You sound like my husband! He never throws anything away either. Since we are supposed to be clearing out the house to sell it I face an uphill battle - constantly I hear yes, but that may be useful.

We gave our old piano to a charity shop. The frame was cracked and it was impossible to tune, but it was unusual since the black keys were green. They managed to sell it!

That's what I call "eBay Fodder" Gwyn. Anything we really don't want we offer on eBay, just in case someone else does want it. It's a way of recycling.

78 RPM records are very handy for making Crocus Bowls

The thought that 78rpm records are made into coasters horrifies me. Somebody could be searching for that ultra-rare recording, only to find it's been cut up and turned into something else.

You should see me shudder when Sue starts in her deleting mode....

In general there only seems to be any interest in cast iron baths if they're ready to use. If the enamel is crazed or damaged then the salvage dealers won't be interested and you're better off hauling it to the scrappy.

I find it wince-worthy to see 33rpm records which have been butchered for a jukebox, let alone mangled into a bowl or coaster! At least you can get clip-in inserts to replace the missing centres.

Talking of never throwing anything away I'm considering making an offer on an MX which is suffering from a mirror which doesn't always return and a squealing shutter mechanism. I'm guessing it would just be a simple flush and re-lubricate job? I wouldn't mind another one...

I used to cut 45 RPM records up for plectrums

Sorry I cut up "God Save the Queen" by the Sex Pistols it
didn't make very good plectrums.... too thin!

Would have been worth..... lets see!!!!..... £8,100 NOW!!!

I've got a few unusual 45s in my collection, mostly colour vinyl editions (have "Out of the Blue" by ELO on, unsurprisingly, blue vinyl for one). Also have what I believe to be an original copy of Tubular Bells complete with the wonderful note on the back about how it's best on stereo but can be played mono "at a pinch"!

A lot of early Stones LP's such as High Tide Green Grass were mono.
Early Stereo was pathetic anyway usually 3 musicians on the left and 2 musicians on the right with the vocalist in the middle

I remember discovering some of the "British Invasion" rock classics in a pile of old records...when I was a teen...

I hadn't commented on this before as I was very stressed out about it. My cat went in for a masectomy to remove a tumour last week. Been really scared that it was serious, and anyone who knows me knows how much I love her and how much she means to me.

Got a call from the vet today. It's benign and hasn't spread. Nearly wept with joy. It's so much harder dealing with poorly pets than poorly children.

Nice to here the cat's OK.

Talking of hoarding, I've just spent the last hour installing Powerpoint on 2, yes2, old laptops.

Why?

So my better half can do a presentation at work tomorrow using the screens to display a slide show. They don't have a projector before any body suggests it.

To make life interesting, one system is running WinXP, the other '7!
