-15, decent report card from the little one. -23 forecast here for Thursday, -25 where we're going. Need to go finish off some shopping, then it's time to make some gingerbread people.

Some may say "thank heaven they don't!"

But not me, I wasn't a fan but was aware of his impact on the music scene back in the 70s.

That won't be said about half the 'singers' nowadays.

got to go, just heard Led Zep on the radio...

I`m almost ashamed to say I`ve never heard of him ! Sorry but from 1966 - 1974 the only music I heard was on Muzack or what came from my own guitar - I then got into Vangelis and missed the Heavy Metal thing altogether.........................

Tozza - Captain Beefheart wasn't heavy metal. Blues rock or folk rock would better describe him.
He was a friend of Frank Zappa, and a great musician. his first LP Safe as Milk included 20 year old Ry Cooder on guitar.
Lennon and McCartney were fans and he has influenced many musisians over the years.

Do a search on youtube for some of his music - maybe Bluejeans and Moonbeams.

He was OK in the Damned, but went downhill after that.
Didn't he come up with a political party along the lines of the Monster Raving Loonies?

Captain Beefheart was never a big star, but a very influential one, with a loyal following.

My wife and daughter should have been on the train from Glasgow to Newcastle tonight. However they have only made it as far as Edinburgh and they are being told there will be no trains until tomorrow, due to a power failure. They are talking about alot of Southern Comfort and Lemonade.

I should have been in Edinburgh today - but decided to stay at home - snow was forecast for Edinburgh this morning and Glasgow this afternoon .

For once the forecast was more or less correct - we did get snow this afternoon but we had some this morning as well.

Barrie - hope your 2 travellers manage to keep warm while they wait

Thanks TT. I've got them booked into a hotel for tonight. As I say they are off to drown their sorrow in Southern Comfort.

I believe Frank Zappa once said about Captain Beefheart, that if you listened to a whole album from start to finsh and without a break that you would turn into a tree. (Trout Mask Replica, I believe)

I am not yet a tree....but then I have listened to more Sensible than Beefheart!
