It has just taken my husband three hours to get home. The last hour and a half were to cover 8kms.
10 gritters on the road in front of him just to begin to have an effect on the surface. Then he got off the motorway and slid his way home. I am relieved he made it. He doesn't have winter tyres either, just oodles of clever electronics, all of which came into use and worked.
His car is undoubtedly safer without winter tyres than mine is with, simply because of all those electronics which mine doesn't have. I don't even have ABS .
I've given up shifting snow. Just a waste of time.
Now for a big warming bowl of chilli .

Just back from the White Rose Centre, I got dragged out to do last minute shopping!
My feet ache, I'm hungry and grumpy.
Christmas?
Bah humbug!!

And you didn't even drop in for a coffee, which is surprising cos' ours is much cheaper

I can eat drink and be merry any time of the year, Christmas just spoils it all by being so commercial.
Although, it has officially started in our house, I heard Slade on the radio on Monday so it must be true.

Tips - put a £10 limit on presents. That way you have to use some imagination. Watch the M. R. James ghost story on BBC2/4 (although it's not one of the best this year) by candle light. In fact, do everything by candle light. Make your own decorations. This is a tradition since I was a very small Oggy (and that was many years ago:roll. Be friendly to someone you don't like.

I like your style little Oggy - sentiments are sensible and acceptable.
Spoke too soon about the white stuff - my best buddy rang the bell at 7-50 and I opened the door to a 2" dump whilst I had been doing stuff on the `puter - stopped for now but looks threatening ! Temp down to -1 but still and rather calming.

Thankfully it looks as if the Central Scotland belt will be spared this time round - I still have 3 small heaps of white stuff from our previous lot

Just been out clearing the drive a bit and the footpath. I'm running out of salt, and fed up with shovelling. I'm not as keen as the neighbours though - one was out at 6 am shovelling snow - now that is dedication. He'll have to do it all again when he gets in from work mind.
Walking in the woods was nice - deep fresh snow. Getting there and back was a different matter.
OK so we've had plenty of winter now. Can we please go back to normal and have weeks of grey and drizzle and above freezing temps? It almost sounds attractive. Almost.
Failing that can we have weeks of blues skies and freezing temps - but get rid of the snow first?
