Just going to bed last night when we discover water running on the inside of the dinning room window. A quick look and found it was caused by ice and frozen snow blocking the spouts. It was to late do do anything then so I've spent 4 hours this morning with a hammer and chisel removing offending blockage. Isn't the snow picturesque.

You should count yourself lucky Barrie, I'll trade you your blocked spout for waking up to no heating or hot water and I was too busy today to organise anything so arrived home to a very cold house followed by a quick call to those nice people at British Gas, fortunately my health problems along with my dodgy ticker got me on the emegency repair list for tomorrow instead of Monday, I just hope to god the engineer has the parts

Hard luck Barrie, the last time we had water indoors it was an overflow pipe that had got disconnected and brought the ceiling down in my sons bedroom!

That was last year, it's sorted now with fresh plaster and paint.

As for heating spider, I hope the gas guy gets to you tomorrow. We spent the coldest winter this century trying to get to grips with the (then) new wood burner. No worries this year though.

Can I suggest that you both relax with a little drink of something warming, like a good malt...
Cheers, HG

snow is fine... the back of my car likes it, anyway

100km/h all the way down to the airport at -10 and again back up. Not an issue...

Your kidding, I'll be coming out to warm up a bit

As for the camper, thanks for the offer but I've begged stolen and borrowed a few electric heaters and the house is bearable, the electric meter will be the next thing to break as its poor little wheel must be ready for lift off

Probably a case of something contracting in the cold and opening a gap for water to come in?

I've been playing with my new Red Snapper tripod (birthday present from brother). It's a lot better than my old Velbon CX540, much more solid.

Well its 0 here at the moment - sheet ice all down the path and pavements but no snow at all ! Bright sunshine and dead calm so it looks idyllic.
Put sand down to make walking possible and safe.
Dinner party last night ( see Gallery Comp )did all the prep and sat down but couldn`t eat a thing..........................not a speck left on the other plates so I know it was ok ! Appetite all off at the moment and feeling very tired - just about managed to get the cork out of the wine bottle - lol.
Cyril now has 3 buddies - all youngsters and all taking nuts from the hand - going to have to apply for a grant from the WWF if this keeps up - peanuts are expensive !

you know the problem with Cyril don't you ?

He's forgotten how to forage for his own grub - he knows you will force feed him So he brings his mates with him That squirrel is not stupid .

I've had to sweep away some water today and I've now salted it heavily so it won't freeze [ I hope ] overnight

That's the problem with being a good chef Tony, your clients just keep coming back for more.

And as word spreads more clients appear and the word spreads further and...

...can I suggest you move house before the Cyrils take you hostage?
