How do you arrange the snow plough?!!!

It takes us all our time just to get past stuck/abandoned BMW/Mercedes/subarus!!

My little Punto may be 14 years old but she gats through most things.

Timber got a record short walk this morning. With a wind chill of -16 I'm afraid he only got to do the necessaries and then I was back to the car and home.
He didn't object though.

If it's warned up a bit this afternoon I'll make it up to him.

While on that subject, how are you all getting along now Gwyn?

Thanks for asking. I'm getting there. I still miss Silke terribly. She was my dog, and my shadow. Timber is my husband's dog and he doesn't always appreciate me.
He still sleeps in Silke's bed. I want to take it away but feel bad about it.

It was really sad yesterday - as I was entering the woods, with Timber still on the lead, he suddenly got very animated - his ears pricked up, his tail was wagging like mad and he was making little yelping noises. In the distance was a dog with similar colouring to Silke. It even moved like her, though it was in fact a different breed entirely. As we got closer he realised it wasn't her, and his ears went down, his tail dropped, and he let out a little howl. I was in tears. The owner of the other dog didn't get it - and I couldn't explain it.

One of the hardest things is explaining what happened when I meet people.

The worst was someone, a fellow dog owner, who said for heavens sake it's only a dog! I replied you wait until it's your turn and then tell me it's only a dog, and walked off.

My sentiments exactly.

Its the thin wheels & tyres, they seem to cope with snow better, I remember years ago driving up Leeds Road in a Vauxhall Viva, weaving in and out of cars that were slipping all over the place,
The fat low profiles on the Beamer were crap, always had to have three or four runs at the drive to get up it in snow, the Qashqai is great though, I just reverse it up and the car is almost on the drive before the front wheels even think about slipping.

Anybody know where i can get narrow wheels for an Octavia. On 205 section tyres it's useless.

Just trade it for something with narrow wheels Barrie

A 2CV should do it.

My sister-in-law lives in a small village at the top of a hill in Kent. Horrible roads at the best of times, but in winter truly terrible.
She had a 2CV until a couple of years ago and would go barrelling around in it, no matter what the weather - and could often get through when others couldn't, snow ice and floods held no fears for her.
Now she has a modern car she is more often than not stuck at the first hint of snow or ice or flood.

Except an MOT.

We got significant snow last night and I have to say I am pleased at how Puma (195s) coped, although it did have a few outbreaks of enthusiasm.

I am pleased to say most people were driving sensibly except the muppets with fog lights on.

I like winter tyres...

if it's an older octy, the fit is 5x100, centre bore 57.1 and ET of 6x15s should be around 35. Try pepperpots from an A3....

I would go back to my first car a Renault R8 with 135x15 Michelin X, hopeless in the wet, but great in the snow for some reason.

Whereas the Renault Kangoo is just hopeless. Great for carrying dogs, but that's about it. Give it a bit of weather to cope with and it is a nightmare.
