It's warming up here. supposed to be getting a load of snow again tonight (which doesn't really surprise me).
So, now my track is booked (anyone else want to come and stand around in the cold? Bring a K5 or K7 with you!) I can relax with a small Balvenie Portwood

No more snow here thank goodness. Our street doesn't get gritted so it is now sheet ice. I have salted our driveway and the footpath, but can't do the entire street .
Could be exciting in the morning .
The wind chill today was nasty, and going to be worse tomorrow apparently.
Greece and Bulgaria look like the places to be at the moment.
Thaw due at the weekend. Maybe.

Prize for you HG and Colin
You and Colin [ Weldingblues ] are the only ones who have spotted the change in my siggie
No I hadn't announced it - it was almost a spur of the moment thing . I realised I was having problems with the teeny 40mm Ltd because of its physical size.
As far as I can see I'll get almost the same results from the 35 but this should be slightly easier for me to handle . I'm looking forward to trying it - maybe tomorrow ?
Please please turn the snow off - I'm tired of shovelling . If these keeps up for long I'm really going to have problems with my hands , and then I won't dare to use the K-x till they have recovered and I have feeling back.

electric snow blower or a heated drive (we do this here a *lot*) - they heat them to +3 or so and leave them there.

Wouldn't want your heating bill Bret .a heated drive (we do this here a *lot*) - they heat them to +3 or so and leave them there.

I'd rather they heated the roads than my drive tbh.
Salt will have do for me for now.
Good job I stocked up a couple of weeks ago. Haven't got enough for if it turns into a long cold winter but for the odd week or two I'll be OK.

So far , after I have removed the nasty white stuff I've scattered a total of almost 5Kg of salt [ granular variety ]
I live at the top of a road that's a 1 in 8 gradient [ about 25% I think] That road gets gritted - but the pavements aren't and nor are the side streets. At the moment I have approximately 12 ins of snow on the pavement outside my gate . Though I now can get the garden clear enough to get the Freelander out of the garage but I can't get her out onto the street. I've had enough injuries in the past to be afraid of walking on the slippery pavements/roads , so I'm more or less confined to the house till the weather eases . I'm on my own for this - no-one to help so I just have to do what I can .

You'll love it, would be my verdict on the 35/2.4. Mine hasn't been off my camera since I unwrapped it on Friday, it's a worthy modern successor to the M 50mm lenses on film SLRs.
What I can't really explain is why. I'm still learning to use it properly and so far I've only managed a handful of shots I'm completely happy with, although that's normal for me with any lens. It's sharp throughout so you can use depth of field as artistically as you like, bokeh is unobtrusive and colour rendition is similar to other DA lenses. It's actually quite pleasant to focus manually (unusually for an AF lens) and I'm determined to try a couple of shots with it on my SFX on the next roll of slide film, as that body can force it to use different apertures in shutter priority mode.

well - I loved the little Gem - and I can't see this being vastly different .
I'm just longing to put it on and get it into use BUT I'm just going to have to wait

One test shot I've taken was a repeat of the "main road at night in snow" I posted a while ago. You could always try shooting the street outside with a tripod in an upstairs window?
I would be sorely tempted by the 40mm Ltd but for the fact that I've tried my M 40mm on digital and found the field of view a bit tight for my uses. I find I need to get in close to crop out unwanted distracting elements so 35mm is about as narrow as I'd want for a walkabout lens.
The 40mm is, however, superb on film giving a usefully wider field of view than the standard 50mm.

Hey isn't the Pointless Thread a 'photography free zone'?
Anyone see Frankie Boyle's 'Tramadol Nights'? I normally love his line-crossing sort of humour but what a disappointment. Only genuinely funny sketch was the Iranian version of 'Loose Women'
There was a Green Mile parody which I really didn't know what to make of

Not really, you can mention odd items and new toys aswell as of brand oddities.Hey isn't the Pointless Thread a 'photography free zone'?
I didn't see Frankie Boyle's show last night. I feel he's a little lost doing stand up for such a long time. That and it clashed with the wife's choice!

that sky has again dumped on me
This is really getting beyond a joke. I hate snow - always did even as a child.
Last night , about 6pm , after I had 'shut the shop' for the night and set my alarm I was sitting watching the TV when the door bell rang !!
Went through to the kitchen , turned off the alarm unlocked first door , then the porch door and discovered
an OXFAM 365 collector !! She looked really cold Had I heard of them ? - well you can guess how the rest went .
I returned to my warm room and she went on her merry way .
Surely elfin safe tea would have something to say about a girl collector on her own in these dreadful conditions after dark.

Am stuck at home today, the roads are solid ice and the snow is blasting in from the sea. Last night it took me nearly three hours to get home and at one point the hail was coming down like ball bearings, but thanks to a well timed snow plough I managed to avoid abandoning my car and walking.
