I just rescued an Auto Takumar 55mm f2 from being used on a Canon!

Anyone want a Canon-M42 adapter and AF chip? They're apparently included in the lot and obviously I have no use for them...

Bret might, he's using a hired 7D at the moment.

It might have gone back by the time the adaptor arrives though!

I won a Selfix 16-20 last night, for next to nothing!!

I was a bit bemused by the "AF chip" business until I read (while looking for advice on how this 55mm can be expected to behave) that Canons won't give focus confirmation without it. Talk about what happens when you let the marketing department specify the product rather than the engineers...

Why don’t people answer questions on eBay?

I have asked differant people questions and NO reply at all.

The last time I asked the reply came after the item had finished (relisted)

Edit; Sorry for the rant it just winds me up.

I find the business that sell on ebay the worst for that. I have to say, individuals, i've had no problem with.

It depends on the type of business. Some are really sharp and even OTT when it comes to communication. They don't want low seller ratings or negative feedback.

Unfortunately there are some buyers out there who have no concept of how to fill in the ratings. Take speed of despatch for example. If a seller despatches an item the same day isn't that a 5 star excellent performance? Suppose it goes missing or is delayed in transit - not the sellers fault but how many buyers really rate how long it took to arrive...?

I think as things get over complicated it spoils them. It was better when buyers and sellers simply left the feedback and that was it. Over-thinking systems is a dreadful thing.
Best regards, John

I know what you are saying - I left a phone message AND an email request for a seller to let me know if he could get an item delivered to an address in Dorset for the weekend of the 15th October - I did this on the previous Sunday and Monday - I`m still waiting to hear ??

I tend to have a long memory where ebay sellers are concerned. My pet hate is ones who turn the "best offer" option on but won't use it properly, either ignoring offers or rejecting them out of hand without making a counter offer. Either will see me walk away and avoid their auctions in future.

I don't make insultingly low offers, for example I'll try £40 on a £50 item and regard that as an opening offer in what should turn into a brief haggle over the price.

A good experience with one today. Attempting to source an original lens case for one of my Takumars I asked the seller what colour the interior was last night. This morning when I check the listing the information has been added, as a result of which I've placed a bid. Doubt I'll win as in my experience bidding early just bumps the price up and ensures that you won't get it!

I was having a little surf, partly on behalf of a niece who is getting married sometime in the not too distant future, and I came across this.

He's come a long way from he first joined the PU forum .

It just shows what determination and drive can achieve. Good for him .

He won't be getting the job though, she's decided to move the wedding location .

Indeed he has Gwyn, perhaps he'll be back when he realises the K5 is better than any of his Canons

Hmmm, "Award winning photographer Pete Davis", then a mention of this: www.digitalslrphoto.com/_download/82989/00000116.pdf

Seems like he might be trying Nikon now too. (He has a link to his Facebook page on the website, not the most professional impression when you get there. Need to be careful what you link to what!)

Well it is an award

I didn't look at his Facebook link until you mentioned it. I'm not on Facebook so don't usually bother with things like that.
Interesting though.

Seems to be making a go of things though. Shame there's no acknowledgement of those who helped him at the start .

The eBay seller was a private person, (received a response :lol and had received 40+ emails about the Item, just shows that a good description would save you lots of emails etc.

I think you can have a professional Facebook presence, the trick is keeping a firm eye on it and weeding out the inevitable spammers and trolls who'll try to post comments. I know a volunteer group I'm now working with has set one up as it gives us a lot of free exposure - rather than our members needing to remember a web address and pass that to people they think may be interested they just need to invite them to the FB group.

I am impressed with Lowepro's page on there - I've asked a few questions and always had an answer so they obviously pay attention rather than just trying to advertise with it.

Can someone tell me how Ann Widdicombe has gone from one of the most reviled politicians in the land to national treasure on Strictly?
