Solomon Burke died this morning .

He died on a plane just after it landed at Schiphol.

For those who don't know he is the one who wrote Everybody Needs Somebody To Love of Blues Brothers fame. He wrote some great soul songs which were recorded by Wilson Picket and Otis Redding amongst others, as well as being a singer in his own right.

He leaves 21 children and at least 90 grandchildren.

Sorry to hear about Solomon Burke, one of the first Soul artists I ever heard on vinyl. Still got some of his LP's.

Flaming B&Q

All my units are now in - the guys have been working more or less non stop since they arrived this morning.

All the lower units have their doors and look gorgeous so we got the wall cupboards made up , positioned and got them on to find

THE DOORS WERE WRONG

TheY were expecting me to put 2 x 300 mm doors on a 600mm cupboard - but there was no centre strip for them Phoned the place and was told that was so I didn't hit my head on the open door when I was doing something on the worktop beneath them !!! This is NOT elfin safe tea - you just do NOT leave cupboard doors open . I could still have KOd myself on a 300mm door. Sooooo tomorrow back we go with a pile of incorrect doors [ more than the 4 we know about, there are a few others as well ]

I've chosen my paint - I still need to go and choose tiles , my cooker has not yet arrived

A very disappointing weekend. Weather was rotten in the East so our planned fly-out never got off the ground.

Decided to head to the west coast, but mist everywhere.

Darn.

two very grey days although I have found some great mushrooms to photograph.

We have a lot of mushrooms here. Some of them have even gone mouldy, which I think says a lot about the weather conditions!

I have no idea whether they're edible, so I'm guessing they're not.

We have lots of toadstools too. many of those - including the gnomes flats I photographed last week, have gone mouldy.

However today was a brilliant day. We went to Harlingen to celebrate my son's birthday (which was actually Tuesday but never mind). His brothers and their partners and our grand-kids went too. Wonderful sunny day. We went on his boat but didn't go for a sail - the youngest grandson is only 18 months and would have been a real problem. Couldn't have him sliding off the deck could we? Just sat around, drinking Cava and soaking up the sun

Chilly and sunny here today on Wirral - been to see my Urologist - he`s taking me off the tablets but continuing the hormone injections - hopefully goodbye to the hot flushes every few hours - I am going to try Oestrogen patches for 6 weeks and see if they will have any effect on the PSA level.
No noticeable spreading of the nasties in the bones which is good news and hopefully a great week-end in store down in Dorset.Pictures will be taken !!!!
Off to see the Oncologist now..............
