I drink Tassimo - Columbian - brilliant - there are some nice blends online too.
I tried my sister`s Nesspresso when in Jersey - serious coffee but very pricey to buy and set up - loved the milk frother attachment though.

If ever you are in St Helier - go to Bean Around the World - best coffee on the island and knocks all the Costas and Starbucks into touch.

I got one at home because I'm the only one to appreciate a good coffee once in a while so it wasn't cost effective to buy an espresso machine.
The new blends of Nespresso are quite nice and indeed the milk frother which I've as well is nice.
A nice glass off latte macchiato is always nice in the evening

We are lucky enough to have an excellent coffee roaster in the next town. He roasts small quantities and I love trying different coffees from him.

I grind my own beans always.

One of these days I intend to treat myself to his Java Estates Luwak coffee .

Nesspresso is a really expensive way to have coffee - it wouldn't take many of those capsules to pay for my luwak coffee .

A friend of my sons works for Illy and I get some free samples from him on occasion too.

My Saeco has a cappuccinatore, so makes excellent cappuccino too.

Yeah the capsules are expensive but the machines are rather cheap if you have a voucher with €70 off, and since I don't drink coffee in large quantise, not even once a day it's cheaper than buying an espresso machine and a grinder.
I would need to grind the coffee or else the taste wouldn't be that great after a while

A Gaggia with a grinder is around €499, a nespresso machine is €119 add to that a €70 off voucher then you can buy a lot of nespresso for the same price. Around 2 years worth of coffee for me before I get close to the price of the Gaggia machine alone.
That's what I meant that it wasn't cost effective for me.

Filter machines are fine if you are going to drink all the coffee ! As long as you use the same measure and the same amount of water then Cafetiere are even easier - but the one cup Tassimo at approximately 20p for a fresh brew of quality coffee in less than 3 minutes from switch on has to be the best I have come across - and the coffee doesn`t need to be sealed or refrigerated or used before a specific date.

I've got a Flavia machine, takes about 5 seconds.
Their coffee used to be brilliant years ago, but
tastes pretty horrible now. You probably came
across them in the restaurant trade. Owned by Mars.

I prefer Monsooned Malabar from India hard to get nowdays.
Sainsbury's used to stock it, but then again they used to
stock Jamaica BM as well.

Thanks for the link Gwyn, The last time I looked for Gaggia in the UK the site said that Philips had taken over the British distribution.

Consequently all spares dried up and any help took 3 weeks to sort out!

Now it looks like there's a new distributor and I may be able to get any spares easily.
Cheers, HG

Sorry if I came across a bit strong, apologies! I blame the hangover this morning

p.s.
I have got a very small pension ...with the Equitable Life... the collapse of which shortly afterwards put me off the idea!

p.p.s.
I don't have a coffee machine. I have got at least 3 cafetieres though. Please, for the love of all thats unholy, if you are stuck for xmas present ideas for someone, don't give them a cafetiere...

Thanks for the warning. I'll add it to my firewall blacklist.

I listen to Hauraki (classic rock).

I have two cafetieres, one cup size and one flask size, and at the moment I am on Lavatza Red but my tastes seem to change.

Pensions - Grrr.

I don't think it' your taste.

Lavazza coffee seems to have changed in the UK, the stuff we brought back from France tastes different, better.

I missed Ann dancing, the boss tells me she's good entertainment though.
